Train2Game students have just one week left if they wish to enter the £100,000 TIGA Games Contest.
As previously reported by The Train2Game Blog, TIGA, the independent awarding and examination body for Train2Game courses, and representative association of the UK games industry, launched the contest in late November.
The contest for small game development studios is divided into three categories, games on-the-move, games in-the-home and social web gaming with two winners of the latter each receiving £25,000 in funding. The games on-the-move and games-in-the-home contest winners will receive £25,000 each to fund their projects.
In addition to funding, the winning applicants will receive free TIGA membership for six months, mentoring, and support from the technical teams at contest supporters Antix Labs or Turbulenz.
“TIGA, the trade association of games developers and digital publishers, is determined to help more start-up studios and small games businesses prosper and grow.” said TIGA CEO Dr. Richard Wilson, who gave a speech to Train2Game students at the Train2Game & Epic Game Jam.
“The TIGA Games Competition, run in conjunction with Abertay University, Antix Labs and Turbulenz, provides a wonderful opportunity for games developers and publishers: the winners receive prototype funding, mentoring and free TIGA membership for six months.
“I hope that all start-up and small UK games studios will enter this competition. There is only one week to go!” he added
Dr. Wilson has previously confirmed to The Train2Game Blog that Train2Game student teams are eligible to enter the contest, so long as they form a limited company, as it’s only possible for a limited company to receive the £25,000 funding. For information on how to set up a limited company, see this government advice website.

However, if Train2Game students want to enter now then they had better be quick about it!
