UK Charts: Three in a row for Zumba Fitness

Train2Game students may be getting fed up with hearing the same news again and again, but Zumba Fitness is top of the UK Charts for the third week in a row.

As reported by the Train2Game blog, the fitness title was No.1 last week, and a release of very few new releases sees it hold onto the position once again. That makes it a total of six weeks at No.1 for Zumba Fitness.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean moves up to No.2, equalling its highest ever position, former long time no.1 – as reported by the Train2Game blog – L.A. Noire  drops one place to No.3, pushing F.E.AR.3 down one spot to No.4.

Wimbledon fever plays a part in Virtua Tennis 4 jumping 15 places to No.5, while the release of the new film sees Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon move from No.17 up to No.6.  DIRT 3 moves down to No.7, while another Tennis game in the form of Top Spin 4 sits at No.8, up two places since last week.

Former No.1 Brink – as reported by the Train2Game blog – remains at No. 9, while FIFA 11 is No.10. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Duke Nukem Forever both drop out of the top ten.

Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D’ and THQ’s ‘UFC Personal Trainer’ are the only new entries this week, entering at No.2 1 and No.2 2 respectively.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 2nd July 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
2. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney Interactive Studios)
3. L.A. Noire (Rockstar Games)
4. FEAR 3 (Warner Bros)
5. Virtua Tennis 4 (Sega)
6. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (Activision)
7. Dirt 3 (Codemasters)
8. Top Spin 4 (2K Games)
9. Brink (Bethesda)
10. FIFA 11 (Electronic Arts)

It’s a quiet week for releases, with arguably no huge releases.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on the continued dominance of Zumba Fitness? Will a slow week for releases see it achieve a 7th No.1? What releases are you looking forward to this summer?

infamous 2 enters the chart at No. 4, and as reported by the Train2Game blog, it’s a game Train2Game students should take an interested in due to the user generated content tools available for creating levels.

LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, Dirt 3 and former No.1 Brink all drop places down to No.5, No.6 and No.7 respectively. New entry Red Faction: Armageddon  enters at No.8, with much more information about the game available in a Train2Game blog interview with Lead Level Designer Jameson Durall.

UK Charts: L.A. Noire top for third week running

L.A. Noire, which as the Train2Game blog previously reported became the UK’s fastest selling new IP, is once again top of the UK Charts as compiled by UKIE.

The Rockstar published title from Team Bondi holds No.1 after a quiet week for new releases. Lego Pirates of the Caribbean rises one place and takes it’s third No.2 in the four weeks since release, while Dirt 3 drops one in its second week on sale.

Former No.1 – as reported by the Train2Game blog – Zumba Fitness holds No.4 while fellow former No.1 Brink is also a non-mover at No.5. There’s also no change for Wii Sports Resort at No.6.

Chart regulars Call of Duty: Black Ops and FIFA 11 switch positions in No.7 and No.8 respectively.  As reported by the Train2Game blog, Activision’s next Call of Duty title – Modern Warfare 3 – will be coming later this year.

Another former chart topper in the form of Portal 2 moves up three to No.9, while The Sims 3: Generations is the highest new entry this week at No. 10. The only other new entry this week is Hunted: The Demon’s Forge from independent game developer Inxile which debuts at No. 14.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 4th June 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. LA Noire (Rockstar)
2. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)
3. Dirt 3 (Codemasters)
4. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
5. Brink (Bethesda)
6. Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
7. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
8. FIFA 11 (EA)
9. Portal 2 (EA)
10. The Sims 3: Generations (EA)

Big name releases this week include infamous 2, Red Faction: Armageddon, and…Duke Nukem Forever. Much more information about each of these is available on the Train2Game blog.

Infamous 2 is set to feature User Generated Content, find out how this could be a massive benefit for Train2Game students here on the blog.

Last week, the Train2Game blog featured an in-depth interview with Red Faction: Armageddon Lead Level Designer Jameson Durall. Subjects covered included Game Design, game development and how to get into the games industry.

And last month, the Train2Game blog got a massive insight into the long, long development of Duke Nukem Forever, thanks to the BAFTA Q&A event with Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford.

So Train2Game, which title do you believe will be No.1 next week? Which one of the new releases will you be going for? Or could L.A. Noire hold them all off?

UK Charts: L.A. Noire stays top

Last week, the Train2Game blog reported that L.A. Noire became the fastest selling new IP, taking top spot in the UK Charts. The Train2Game blog can confirm that the impressively animated title remains at No.1 for the second week in a row.

And as previously reported by the Train2Game blog, Team Bondi believe their impressive Art & Animation tech not only can complete with film, but also has uses outside the game industry.

Dirt 3 takes No. 2 in its debut week, with almost two thirds of sales on the Xbox 360. The remainder of the top 5 is filled with familiar names, with LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean dropping one spot to No.3, while three time No.1 Zumba Fitness holds onto No.4.

Another former No.1 – as reported by the Train2Game blog – in the form of Brink is No.5 after falling two places.

Wii Sports Result re-enters the top ten at No.6 thanks to price promotions on the Nintendo Wii bundle hardware, while FIFA 11 moves up one to No.7 in its 35th week in the charts.

Call of Duty: Black Ops rises two to No.8 in the week the Train2Game blog revealed that Modern Warfare 3 was officially revealed by Activision.  Crysis 2 drops three places to no.9 while the top ten is completed by Mario Kart Wii thanks to the new Wii Bundle that included the game.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 28th May 2011 is therefore as follows:

1.    L.A. Noire (Rockstar)
2.    Dirt 3 (Codemasters)
3.    LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)
4.    Zumba Fitness (505 Games
5.    Brink (Bethesda)
6.    Wii Sports Resort (Nintendo)
7.    FIFA 11 (EA)
8.    Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
9.    Crysis 2 (EA)
10.    Mario Kart Wii (Nintendo)

The coming week looks slow for releases, with Hunted: The Demon’s Forge arguably the only big title to hit the shelves.

So Train2Game, is it a well deserved second No.1 for L.A. Noire? Will it hold onto the title for a third week? Or could Dirt 3 pip it to the post? Or will something else take top spot?

UK Charts – Zumba Fitness retakes No.1 from Portal 2

In what may be surprising to Train2Game students, Zumba Fitness has regained top spot in the UKIE/GFK Chart-track All Formats top 40 at the expense of Portal 2.

It’s 505 Games dance title’s third time at No.1, having taken the title twice during April as reported by the Train2Game blog.

Portal 2 may have held No.1 for two weeks, but for now it slips down to No.2, while Mortal Kombat also drops once to No.3. Meanwhile, Call of Duty: Black Ops continues to sell strongly moving up one spot to No.4 in this weeks’ chart.  The top five is completed by Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars which also raises one place from No.6.

FIFA 11 drops to No.6 in its 32nd week on sale, and the same week in which the Train2Game blog revealed that its sequel will feature some of the biggest changes in the series.  Operation Flashpoint: Red River drops three to No.7 in its third week in the charts while Wii Fit Plus is a non-mover at No.8.

Pokémon Black – which as reported by the Train2Game blog took No.2 in its debut week – re-enters the top ten at No.9 while Just Dance 2 holds No. 10. Former No.1 Homefront leaves the top ten, and falls to No. 17.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 7th May 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
2. Portal 2 (EA)
3. Mortal Kombat (Warner)
4. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
5. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
6. FIFA 11 (EA)
7. Operation Flashpoint: Red River (Codemasters)
8. Wii FIt Plus (NIntendo)
9. Pokemon Black (Nintendo)
10. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)

Releases in the coming week include Brink and Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on Zumba re-taking No.1? Is it testament to a successful game or was it just a slow week for new releases? Will Brink take top spot next week?

Leave your comments here on the Train2Game blog, or on the Train2Game forum.

UK Charts: Portal 2 still No.1

Portal 2 stays top of the UKIE/GFK Chart-track All Formats top 40 in a week that sees little in the way of change.  The first person puzzler – which the Train2Game blog reported Valve as saying is their best ever single player game – stays No.1 for the second week in a row.

The continued success of Portal 2 means Mortal Kombat once again sits in second place, one place ahead of former chart topper –as reported by the Train2Game blog – Zumba Fitness which raises one spot to No.3. Codemasters Operation Flashpoint: Red River moves up to take No.4 in its second week on sale, overtaking Call of Duty: Black Ops which drops two places to No.5.

Outside the top five, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars moves down one to No.6, ahead of FIFA 11 which once again holds onto No.7, while Wii Fit Plus moves up one to No. 8. THQ FPS Homefront – which the Train2Game blog previously took an in depth look at – rises one position to No. 9, while Just Dance 2 completes the top ten.

Sega’s Virtua Tennis 4 is this week’s only new entry in 23rd position.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 30h April 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. Portal 2 (EA)
2. Mortal Kombat (Warner)
3. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
4. Operation Flashpoint: Red River (Codemasters)
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
6. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (LucasArts)
7. FIFA 11 (EA)
8. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
9. Homefront (THQ)
10. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)

The week ahead is a quiet one for new releases, with Plants vs. Zombies arrival on the Nintendo DS a handful of predominantly new titles  for portable consolesto hit the shelves.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on Portal 2 holding No.1? Is it a testament to a great game, or just a lack of competition? Will Valve tale their third top spot of the year next week? Or can Mortal Kombat take the title?

UK Charts: Black Ops back to No.1

Not only is it still popular on the Train2Game forum, but Call of Duty: Black Ops has also regained No.1 in the UKIE/GFK Chart Track All Formats Top 40, and denies Marvel vs. Capcom 3 top spot in the process.

The UK’s top selling game of 2010 climbs back up to No.1 in its 15th week in the UKIE Chart, with help likely coming from retail discounting lowering the price of Call of Duty: Black Ops to under £30. It marks the titles’ eighth week at No.1, matching that of its predecessor Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. The 2009 title however, achieved the 8 No.1’s in as many consecutive weeks.

The revival of Call of Duty: Black Ops prevents Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds taking top spot in its first week on sale. You can read more about the latest title from Capcom on the Thoughts of Train2Game blog.

Former No.1 Dead Space 2 has dropped one position to No. 3, while last weeks’ chart topper Test Drive Unlimited 2 moves down to No.4. The top 5 is completed by FIFA 11, which slips two places from No. 3.

Just Dance 2 moves up one place to retake No.6, while another Ubisoft title -Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood – drops two to No. 7.  Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem drops two to No.8, while two non-movers – Grand Theft Auto IV: The Complete Collection and LittleBigPlanet 2 complete the top ten.

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the only new entry in the UKIE Top 40.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending February 19th is as follows:

1. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
2. Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (Capcom)
3. Dead Space 2 (EA)
4. Test Drive Unlimited 2 (Atari)
5. FIFA 11 (EA)
6. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
7. Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood (Ubisoft)
8. Mario vs Donkey Kong: Mini-land Mayhem (Nintendo)
9. Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Collection (Rockstar)
10. LittleBigPlanet 2 (Sony)

There’s a busy week for release dates ahead, with Killzone 3, Bulletstorm and Kirby’s Epic Yarn – which was very successful in Japan – all hitting retail this week.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on Call of Duty: Black Ops re-taking No.1? Do you think Marvel vs. Capcom 3 deserved to take the top spot? And with so many releases next week, are you willing to predict if any of them will take No. 1?

UK Charts: Test Drive Unlimited 2 takes pole position

Test Drive Unlimited 2 Train2Game blog image

Test Drive Unlimited 2 – a game which some Train2Game forum users were looking forward to – has taken No. 1 in the UKIE/GFK Chart Track All Formats Top 40 in its first week on sale.

The multiformat racer provides Namco Bandai with their first Number 1 of the year and knocks Dead Space 2 down to No. 2. EA’s horror sequel spent two weeks at the top. The remainder of the top five looks familiar with FIFA 11, Call of Duty: Black Ops and Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood occupying third, fourth and fifth respectively.

Nintendo’s Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-land Mayhem reaches the top ten in its second week on sale, rising five places from No. 11 to No. 6, while Mario Sports Mix climbs four spots to occupy No. 8. Just Dance 2 sits in between the two Nintendo titles in 7th spot.

Grand Theft Auto IV is back in the top ten thanks to the release of the Complete Edition which takes No. 9. (Last month the Train2Game blog reported that the entire series was almost cancelled before it begun!) The Top Ten is completed by LittleBigPlanet 2 which has dropped to No. 10 just four weeks after its chart-topping debut.

Outside the Top Ten, Ubisoft’s childrens’ dancing game Dance Juniors takes No. 12 in its first week, while Madden NFL 11 debuts in No. 14.  Namco Bandai also saw Ben 10: Cosmic Destruction re-enter the chart in No. 17 after it was released Wii, PS3, PS2 and PSP last week. It was previously available on the Xbox 360.

The UKIE GFK Chart-Track All Formats Top Ten for the week ending 12th February 2011 is therefore:

1. Test Drive Unlimited 2 (Namco Bandai)
2. Dead Space 2 (EA)
3. FIFA 11 (EA)
4. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
5. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft)
6. Mario vs Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem (Nintendo)
7. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)
8. Mario Sports Mix (Nintendo)
9. Grand Theft Auto IV: Complete Edition (Rockstar)
10. LittleBigPlanet 2 (Sony)

SoTrain2Game, are you surprised to see Test Drive Unlimited 2 at the top? If you’ve played the game, what do you think? And with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 – which you can find out more about on the Thoughts of Train2Game blog – released this Friday, will Test Drive Unlimited 2 be a one week wonder?
