Train2Game Mortal Kombat 11 Announced

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced Mortal Kombat 11, the newest game in the award-winning franchise.

The official Mortal Kombat 11 Announce Trailer sets the stage for an epic, time bending story and features an original music track created in collaboration with multi-platinum selling rapper 21 Savage. Mortal Kombat 11 is developed by award-winning NetherRealm Studios and is scheduled for release beginning April 23, 2019 for PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, PlayStation®4 Pro computer entertainment system, the Xbox One family of devices including the Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch™ system and PC.

The official Mortal Kombat 11 Announce Trailer is viewable here: https://go.wbgames.com/MK11_Announce_Trailer.

The song by 21 Savage featured in the trailer is titled “Immortal” and overlays scenes of an epic battle between two iconic characters, Dark Raiden and Scorpion, with a tease of a new character who is at the center of Mortal Kombat 11’s story.

Mortal Kombat 11 will make its first gameplay debut at Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal, a highly experiential, community celebration of Mortal Kombat, taking place at 11 a.m. PST on Jan. 17, 2019 in Los Angeles and 7 p.m. UTC in London.

Mortal Kombat 11: The Reveal will be livestreamed globally at www.twitch.tv/NetherRealm and will feature a keynote presented by NetherRealm Studios. The event will also include the first opportunity for hands-on with Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay, tournaments and other Mortal Kombat themed activities.

Mortal Kombat 11 deepens and personalizes the experience unlike ever before with an all new Custom Character Variation System that gives players the creative control of building customized versions of the character roster. In addition, the game will introduce a new cinematic story that continues the epic saga that is more than 25 years in the making.

“By giving players more creative control, Mortal Kombat 11 is a testament to why this iconic franchise is so strong and increasingly relevant after more than 25 years,” said David Haddad, President, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “This game showcases NetherRealm Studios’ extensive talent to innovate and create epic experiences for the Mortal Kombat fans and new players alike.”

“It’s exciting to finally announce Mortal Kombat 11 and showcase what the team has been working on,” said Ed Boon, Creative Director, NetherRealm Studios. “Our Custom Character Variation System opens up an infinite amount of options for players to personalize their favorite fighters. We can’t wait until January when we’ll be showing more of the game.”

All pre-orders will receive the in-game, playable character, ‘Shao Kahn’. Those who pre-order on PlayStation®4 and Xbox One, at select retailers, will also receive access to the beta, which will be available in March for those platforms.

Train2Game News: Mid-week Round up – 8.11.12

Curiosity: What’s inside the cube? was released for iOS and Android on Tuesday and already the first layer has been tapped away. There has been so many people trying to satisfy their curiosity that there has been some server issues but Peter Molyneux and 22Cans are working to fix that.

Peter Molyneux has said that the big game that 22Cans is leading to will be the last game he makes. He revealed the information in an interview 24 hours after the launch of Curiosity. Mr Molyneux has also revealed that the next experience could be “kind of” live on Friday.

Total Film has revealed that a reboot of Mortal Kombat will be coming soon. The original film based on the video game is one I always enjoyed so I am really hoping they do a good job. Kevin Tancharoen has been named as likely director of the film, who previously worked on the digital series released in anticipation of Mortal Kombat 9.

This month, if you play the Halo 4 multiplayer Microsoft are giving you points to spend. You do have to clock some serious hours to earn points. 35 hours earns you a whopping 100 points. The news outlet says the final implementation of new Xbox tablet is being worked on now.

Resident Evil developer and publisher Capcom is looking to hire 1,000 developers over the next ten years, the company has claimed. Train2Game News: A day at Eurogamer Expo: Part 2

This is the continuation of my day at the Eurogamer Expo held in London at Earl’s Court.

The first game I tried in the afternoon was the new Devil May Cry from Capcom. With the main character, Dante, being younger, he is cockier and cooler than ever. I have not played previous Devil May Cry games. It’s a grand display of action in a beautiful demonic world with a good mix of Angel and Demon powers it looks to be attractive with a good pace of action.

I finally got my first play on a PSVita at the show, playing Little Big Planet. The game was enjoyable, it made good use of the touch screen. However I did find the way that I was holding the device meant I was touching the track pad on the back. It didn’t affect the game I was playing but I fear it might when a game uses the mechanic.

I didn’t get to play a WiiU unfortunately. I did however have a look at it. The person I watched was playing ZombiU. The game definitely blows away any worries that it is going to be all family games again like with the Wii. ZombiU looks like a good horror with impressive graphics. It uses the tablet controller in interesting ways, having to hold up the tablet to the screen so that it can disable a jammer in one of the in game areas. My only worry is whether the tablet will be too big in your hands to use comfortably.

After a little shopping trip, buying a Joker shirt and an Assassins Creed wall scroll, I came back to the Capcom stand to play Resident Evil 6. Now you may know I am a big fan of the series, so much so that I have the Umbrella logo tattooed just above my elbow. I was disappointed with Resi 5, I felt that it had lost all of its horror elements. Resident Evil 6 however seems to have something for most people. Playing as Chris Redfield you get a good action paced story, like what it seemed they wanted Resident Evil 5 to be. Playing as Leon Kennedy however you get a good sense of the survival horror similar to the first games of the series. There is a third character called Jake who I didn’t get to try out, my guess would be he is a mixture of the two styles.

As I was playing Resident Evil 6, I turned around to see a zombie who was eyeing up my arm. The guy had amazing make up which was so good in fact he wouldn’t look out of place in The Walking Dead. He then proceeded to give a friend of mine his phone to get his picture taken with a character from Mortal Kombat, that isn’t something you see every day.

I attended the Train2Game stand once more and saw the results of the Royal Rush competition I mentioned in the first part of this blog. The winner got a limited edition silver Xbox360 Controller and it was handed to the winner by The Joker.

The final game I played at the event was the Tomb Raider reboot. The game was absolutely gorgeous and Lara Croft no longer feel likes an immortal woman. She now feels flawed and real as you run around which adds to the immersion of the game. I was doing a hunting mission and my objective was to kill a deer using the Bow and Arrow I had just obtained. My only complaint was the arrows seem far too weak. I shot the deer straight through the neck, thinking that would kill it no problem. It then took an extra six arrows to take it down. The game is still in pre-beta though so I am sure such problems will be fixed by release in March.

Before I set off to drive home I headed in to the Cybercandy store and I bought my self a Zombie survival energy drink to keep me going through the drive home. I had an incredible day and it is very exciting seeing all the games that are soon to be released.

UK Charts: Portal 2 still No.1

Portal 2 stays top of the UKIE/GFK Chart-track All Formats top 40 in a week that sees little in the way of change.  The first person puzzler – which the Train2Game blog reported Valve as saying is their best ever single player game – stays No.1 for the second week in a row.

The continued success of Portal 2 means Mortal Kombat once again sits in second place, one place ahead of former chart topper –as reported by the Train2Game blog – Zumba Fitness which raises one spot to No.3. Codemasters Operation Flashpoint: Red River moves up to take No.4 in its second week on sale, overtaking Call of Duty: Black Ops which drops two places to No.5.

Outside the top five, Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars moves down one to No.6, ahead of FIFA 11 which once again holds onto No.7, while Wii Fit Plus moves up one to No. 8. THQ FPS Homefront – which the Train2Game blog previously took an in depth look at – rises one position to No. 9, while Just Dance 2 completes the top ten.

Sega’s Virtua Tennis 4 is this week’s only new entry in 23rd position.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 30h April 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. Portal 2 (EA)
2. Mortal Kombat (Warner)
3. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
4. Operation Flashpoint: Red River (Codemasters)
5. Call of Duty: Black Ops (Activision)
6. LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (LucasArts)
7. FIFA 11 (EA)
8. Wii Fit Plus (Nintendo)
9. Homefront (THQ)
10. Just Dance 2 (Ubisoft)

The week ahead is a quiet one for new releases, with Plants vs. Zombies arrival on the Nintendo DS a handful of predominantly new titles  for portable consolesto hit the shelves.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on Portal 2 holding No.1? Is it a testament to a great game, or just a lack of competition? Will Valve tale their third top spot of the year next week? Or can Mortal Kombat take the title?

Leave your comments here on the Train2Game blog, or on the Train2Game forum.
