Train2Game news: UK Charts – FIFA 12 dominates as Rayman Origins enters top ten

FIFA 12 official screenshotTrain2Game students see FIFA 12 claim its fifth consecutive and seventh No.1 spot in total in this week’s UKIE Games Charts. FIFA 12 has already made EA Sports more money than any other previous title in the series and has its second best chart run.

As previously reported by The Train2Game Blog, FIFA 12 was the UK’s third biggest ever video game launch when it was released. However, it still has some way to go in order to beat the 11 weeks FIFA:  Road to the World Cup 98 spent at top spot in 1997 and 1998.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim from Bethesda continues to sell very well, moving up to No.2 , switching places with Ubisoft’s Just Dance 3. FPS heavyweights Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 switch places and this week take No.4 and No.5 respectively.

Long-time former  chart topper Zumba Fitness is a non-mover at No.6, and continues to sell better than its sequel, Zumba Fitness 2, which drops one to No.8.  Saints Row The Third returns to the top ten in between the two Zumba Fitness titles.

Ubisoft’s Rayman Origins enters the top ten for the first time after a slow but steady rise up the charts. As reported by the Train2Game Blog, Rayman Origins failed to make the top 40 when it was released last November.

This week’s top ten is completed by id Software’s RAGE. Train2Game students can read an interview with RAGE Creative Director Tim Willets here on the Train2Game Blog.

Assassin’s Creed: Revelations and Need For Speed: The Run both leave the top ten, dropping to No.12 and No.14 respectively.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 21st January 2012 is therefore as follows:

1. FIFA 12 (EA)
2. The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (Bethesda)
3. Just Dance 3 (Ubisoft)
4. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (Activision)
5. Battlefield 3 (EA)
6. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
7. Saints Row The Third
8. Zumba Fitness 2 (505 Games)
9. Rayman Origins (Ubisoft)
10. RAGE (Bethesda)

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on FIFA’s continued dominance? And what do you make Rayman Origins slow but steady rise to the top ten?

Train2Game news: Driver can’t overtake Deus Ex: Human Revolution for No.1

Deus Ex: Human Revolution stays top of the UK charts despite sales almost halving those of its impressive debut week. As reported by the Train2Game blog, the Square Enix title took No.1 last week, knocking off long time chart topper Zumba Fitness in the process.

As a result Driver: San Francisco, which like Deus Ex is the return of a popular franchise has to settle for No.2 in its first week. As reported by the Train2Game blog earlier this year, Reflections promised a ‘more accessible’ Driver title.  The success of Deus Ex and Driver sees Zumba Fitness drop to No.3

Rugby World Cup drops one to No.4 in its second week on sale, while LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean also drops one to No.5.

Madden NFL 12, the American football title from EA Sports enters the chart at No.6, one place ahead of Call of Duty: Black Ops which drops to No.7 in its 43rd week on sale. Cars 2 and FIFA 11 drop two spots each to No.8 and No.9 respectively while The Sims 3 moves up from No.12 to complete the top ten.

Bodycount, the new shooter from Codemasters barely makes the top 40 and debuts at a lowly No. 36.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 3rd September 2011 is therefore as follows:

1. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (Square Enix)
2. Driver: San Francisco (Ubisoft)
3. Zumba Fitness (505 Games)
4. Rugby World Cup 2011 (505 Games)
5. LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney)

9. FIFA 11 (EA)
10. The Sims 3 (EA)

Releases this week include Resistance 3 and the much hyped Dead Island.

So Train2Game, what are your thoughts on the charts? Is it a well deserved No.2 for Driver? Why has Bodycount failed to make an impact in its first week?

Train2Game news: Zumba Fitness top for 8th week running

In news that’ll continue to befuddle some Train2Game students, Zumba Fitness continues its domination of the UK charts with its 8th consecutive No.1 and 11th top spot overall.

Zumba Fitness outsold the next four chart positions combined and its 11 weeks at the top put it joint 3rd with FIFA: Road To The World Cup 98 and FIFA Soccer ’96 when it comes to time at No.1.

Dirt 3 jumps from No.6 to No. 2, while a very different vehicle based game, Cars 2, drops one to No.3  Just Dance 2: Extra Songs remains at No.4, while there’s also no change for LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean which remains at  No.5.

Train2Game students may be getting fed up with hearing the same news again and again, but Zumba Fitness is top of the UK Charts for the third week in a row.

As reported by the Train2Game blog, the fitness title was No.1 last week, and a release of very few new releases sees it hold onto the position once again. That makes it a total of six weeks at No.1 for Zumba Fitness.

Former No.1 Brink – as reported by the Train2Game blog – remains at No. 9, while FIFA 11 is No.10. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D and Duke Nukem Forever both drop out of the top ten.

Capcom’s ‘Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D’ and THQ’s ‘UFC Personal Trainer’ are the only new entries this week, entering at No.2 1 and No.2 2 respectively.

The UKIE Gfk Chart-Track All Formats Top 10 for the week ending 2nd July 2011 is therefore as follows:
