Train2Game News Winners of PR Competition Announced

Swan PRIcey Monty and Derp Studios scoop a month’s free PR in Swan PR Competition. Train2Game student studios beat stiff competition to win free PR services from the leading technology and gaming PR firm.

Judges couldn’t separate the two potential winners of The Swan PR competition, deciding the best thing to do was to have two winners. Both studios will now have PR packages designed for them and Swan PR’s support for a month of PR activity. Icey Monty wowed the judges with its online games website Gamonaut, which releases a new title every week. Whereas Derp Studios impressed the judges with its 2 Souls game, which has players controlling two characters in a platform puzzler.

Harry Cole, Operations Director, Swan PR: “When we launched the competition we didn’t know what to expect from the students, but as soon as the entries began to come in, we were delighted at the standard across the board. We selected Derp Studios and Icey Monty as their titles were what we would describe as ‘ready to go to market,’ we played the games and straight away saw their potential. We can’t wait to start working with both teams.”

Christopher Ledger, CEO, Derp Studios: “We are extremely happy to be joint winners with Icey Monty (well done guys!), it has been a challenging few weeks. We would like to say a massive thank you to Nicola and Darroch for their hard work on developing such a great title and seizing the opportunity to use this competition as a boost to our studios success.”

Nick Walker, Director, Icey Monty: “We’re extremely grateful for the fantastic opportunity that Train2Game and SwanPR have generously awarded us. We would also like to congratulate Derp Studios, as they deserve this success. It’s a humbling surprise to all of us at Icey Monty Ltd, including our partner at Gamonaut. We look forward to the coming month!”

The Swan PR team will be taking the studio’s games to UK press for reviews and features, as well as advising on social media. The studio’s creations will feature in blogs and on websites, getting the much needed publicity that will result in titles getting in the hands of gamers. Introductions will also be made to business connections to give the teams further support in releasing their titles.

Watch this space as Swan PR will continue to announce more details of the winning studio’s games.

Train2Game News: Train2Game Winners

Train2GameThe Train2Game team are creating a new web page highlighting the positive achievements of the students.

We think it’s important that we show what can be achieved by taking a Train2Game course and also heap some praise on the deserving students that have made those brave steps to become professionals.

The site will be used as inspiration for all students to see what they are working towards and what they can achieve with a lot of hard work. This is a great chance to put something back into the Train2Game community, show off your work, gain interest in products you’re working on for your employer show your achievements to potential future employers.

It would be great to hear from all the students who have made that step to become professionals; be it in a company, in an independent studio or another area of employment in or outside the games industry that your Train2Game course has helped you to obtain.

This is a great opportunity for students to start shouting about the courses and their success stories. Please do get in touch by emailing Harry Cole at harry@swanpr.co.uk

Train2Game News: Something Money Can’t Buy

NicolaHi guys, I’m Nicola, the winner of the Rapid2D competition that you can see on the front page of the Train2game site.

Nicolas chequeThis article is partially to share a world of thanks to the people at Train2game that helped me and continue to support me to reach my dream, partially for all the people that write on the forum asking questions like “is this real or is it a scam?” , “should I start this course?” and “will I gain success?”…

Nicola Modern JagoBut, above all, this article is for you, students that, like me, are inside Train2Game to follow your dreams.

On June 18, thanks to Eric Wiltsher and Harry Cole, I spent a wonderful, amazing, unforgettable day meeting famous people inside the game industry.

I had a tour in the Microsoft Lift London Studios (Soho, London) and I saw a real team working on a game. I shook the hands of people like Andrew Webber, Ian Livingstone, Andy Payne, Lee Schuneman, and I received more than 6 hours of mentoring about how to become someone inside the games industry. Precious information that certainly will help me.

When, 8 months ago, I started the course never, if someone said “Nicola, prepare yourself because the next year you will meet the life president of Eidos” I wouldn’t have believed it and never would have I felt so close to changing my life for the better.

So, for all of you that sometimes feel bad and think that nothing will change, keep focused on your dreams, take ALL the opportunities that Train2Game gives you and you’ll find that surely you’ll be rewarded.

Great Future, my friends.
