Call of Duty GhostsActivision Blizzards’ Call of Duty: Ghosts easily holds the crown for a second week at the top of the All Formats chart. The title adds Xbox One to its list of available formats and it sells strongly despite consumers having to wait another week until the next gen console arrives. Despite assembling an all-star cast Warner Bros. Interactive have to settle for second as Lego Marvel Superheroes makes its debut. However it does become the second biggest week one release for a Lego title bettered only by Lego Indiana Jones: Original Adventures all the way back in Week 23 2008. Nintendo’s Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy moves up to number ten, up three places from its debut last week. The title along with Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask which climbs to number twenty, both benefit from retailer bundling which contributes to 3DS XL hardware sales more than doubling last week’s total.

Call of Duty GhostsIt’s no surprise to see the new Call of Duty: Ghosts sitting on top of the charts this week. After its one billion dollar sales day one it was always going to take the spot. The question now is how long will it stay there and what will knock it off? Further down the chart the only other new addition is the new Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy at number thirteen from Nintendo.

Assassin's Creed 4: Black FlagAssassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag and Battlefield 4 go head to head in a fiercely contested chart that sees Ubisoft’s title take the number one spot.  Both titles appear to be affected by the imminent appearance of both Xbox One and PS4 with neither title matching the sales of its predecessor.  Both Assassin’s Creed III and Battlefield 3 were the highest week one sellers in their respective series and achieved number one in their first week of release.  Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag benefits from its Event Title status having been available from Tuesday this week. Sega land at number six as Football Manager 2014 arrives for PC.  The title sees strong sales although it’s down 7% on Football Manager 2013 which debuted at number four.  Also new this week WWE 2K14 is at number seven and is the first in the popular series to fall under Take 2’s 2K Sports label following its acquisition from previous publisher THQ.

GTA VGrand Theft Auto V has hold on to the top spot this week with FIFA 14 still behind in second. The highest new title is Skylanders Swap Force which has entered at number three. Train2Game News: UK Top 20 Games – 07.10.13

FIFA 14FIFA 14 remains at number one, holding off GTA V for a second week as the gap between the two closes to around 31K units.  GTA V has to settle for second place, but can content itself with the knowledge that after just three weeks on sale it has already eclipsed GTA IV’s lifetime total to become the 12th biggest selling game of all time.  It’s even more impressive in terms of revenue, as GTA V now occupies the number five spot behind 4 Call of Dutys, almost equalling the total of Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Despite 4 new releases in the Top 10 there is still a large sales gap between the Top two and the rest of the chasing pack.  Codemasters/Namco Bandai have this week’s highest new entry with the multi-format F1 2013 debuting one place ahead of Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker which re-appears at number four thanks to an enhanced HD version for Wii U.  The other newcomers are NBA 2K14 at seventh and Just Dance 2014 at nine.  Half the Top 10 this week is made up of sequels to games that were in the Top 10 the same week last year.

Train2Game News: UK Top 20 Games – 23.09.13

GTA VGrand Theft Auto V, unsurprisingly, makes a stunning debut at the top of the Chart this week, breaking all records to become the fastest selling game ever.  With just five days on sale it has become the twenty fourth biggest selling title of all time in the UK.  It has sold more in its first week than the launch weeks of all other GTA titles combined and It’s launch week is 2.4 times greater than that of GTA IV and betters previous best Call of Duty: Black Ops by almost two hundred and fifty thousand units.  It might feel like GTA V was the only new release this week with 89% of all sales being for just that one title, but Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 debuts at number two, while further down the chart at number twenty is Harvest Moon 3D: A New Beginning. Aliens: Colonial Marines has made a return to the charts this week as well thanks to more retailer-promotion.
