On the heels of celebrating the biggest Beta in Bungie and Activision Publishing history, and after receiving nearly 70 global awards and nominations to date, including industry behemoths “Best Multiplayer Game and Best Social/Online Game from Gamescom award 2017”, and “Best PC Game – Game Critics Awards: Best of E3 2017,” the stage is set for Destiny 2, the sequel to the internationally acclaimed Destiny, to be one of the biggest launches of the year.  Additionally, Destiny 2 will be available on October 24th on PC at retail and as the first non-Blizzard game to be offered digitally via Battle.net®, Blizzard Entertainment’s online gaming service.

Developed by Bungie, Destiny 2 is a highly anticipated sequel that takes players on an epic journey across the universe to defend humanity from annihilation.  The game welcomes new players to the universe, as well as those who have been devoted to the universe since the beginning, with an array of modes and activities to explore.  In the story of Destiny 2, the last safe city on Earth has fallen and lay in ruins, occupied by a powerful new army.  Players must master new abilities and weapons to reunite the city’s forces, stand together and fight back to reclaim their home.

“A great story. Awesome characters. A menacing villain. A clear mission. A gorgeous, expansive world to explore. And of course, great, innovative gameplay that is fun to play solo or with friends. Destiny 2 has it all,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “Whether you’re one of the millions of fans who are already a part of this community, or you are brand-new to the Destiny world, this game is something all different kinds of fans will enjoy and appreciate. We can’t wait to share it with you.”

Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons, said, “Destiny is designed to bring players together, and we are humbled to be part of the communities who breathe life into our worlds. For us, it’s all about the stories, memories, and friendships that are made when people come together.”  He added, “Destiny 2 represents the spirit, passion, and energy of an incredible team of world builders here at Bungie, and its launch is the culmination of years of partnership with Activision to bring this game to millions of players all around the world.”

In Destiny 2, every player creates their own character called a “Guardian,” humanity’s chosen protectors.  Players can choose from playing the cinematic, story campaign, venturing into the expansive destinations to join in cooperative modes including Strike missions. They can also explore and complete Quests, Adventures and Patrols, or uncover Lost Sectors and Treasure Chests, while rallying with other Guardians to dominate Public and Heroic Events, Flash Points, and more. For competitive players, Destiny 2 offers intense 4v4 multiplayer matches in ‘The Crucible’. Additionally, the fan-favourite endgame gameplay experience, the 6-player Raid, will go live for players at 6pm BST on the 13th September. An all-new, community-oriented feature to be implemented in Destiny 2 rolling out shortly after launch is the ‘Guided Games’ system to help players find like-minded groups to experience some of Destiny 2’s most challenging activities.

Destiny 2 is currently rated PEGI 16. Train2Game News Havok enjoying 2015

image

Havok has enjoyed a strong start to 2015 with a variety of Havok-powered titles earning the highest industry accolades, including the BAFTA Best Game Award for Destiny and the Game Developers Choice Awards Game of the Year honor for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

These and other Havok-powered AAA games were acknowledged within critics and peer-voted awards ceremonies during the 2015 awards season and demonstrate a renewed and increasingly acknowledged appreciation for AAA developers in pushing the technological and design boundaries of gaming ever outward.

Havok has long maintained close partnerships with the key AAA developers who have crafted some of the most indelible and critically-acclaimed titles of all time. The recent award winning games are merely a small slice of the outstanding AAA games that chose to adopt Havok technology in the past year, including Sunset Overdrive, Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, titles that Havok highlight as proof of a resurgent AAA gaming segment.

“At Havok, we’re proud of our AAA roots.  From your first uneasy steps into Rapture, the first time you use the Gravity Gun, and the first time your nemesis in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor openly mocks you after a bitter defeat, these are the experiences we remember, and these are the games Havok is proud to support via our technology and knowhow,” Says David Coghlan, President and Managing Director of Havok. “There are true visionaries at work at these game studios, and they’re the ones who create these worlds through their passion and talent. At Havok, we are proud to see these incredibly creative teams realize their visions by leveraging Havok Technology and Support. Hearty congratulations to all the teams at this year’s GDCAs and BAFTA Game Awards for their well-earned recognition and their landmark achievements in game development.”

Alongside critical acclaim there is ample evidence of the renewed optimism being felt in the AAA gaming segment. With console hardware sales buoyant and global home console software revenue forecast to top $24bn by 2017, it’s clear that the death of AAA console gaming has been greatly exaggerated. This buoyant market validates Havok’s strategy to be the world’s leading provider of technology to the AAA game development industry.

Train2Game News Bungie give recovering fan exotic

DestinyBungie has given a man recovering from brain surgery a rare gift: The Fate Of All Fools to be used in Destiny.

The Fate Of All Fools is a rare weapon that actually doesn’t exist yet; it will be offered as a reward for a mission in future content.

According to Reddit user Bkbunny87, her husband’s doctor recommended that he play the game “to serve as a form of physical therapy for him, following several brain surgeries.”

“… his neurologist told us that video games have been showing tremendous use as a PT tool for brain and memory damage,” Bkbunny87 wrote.

She says that not only was the “Destiny” Reddit community supportive, but that Bungie Community Manager Deej reached out and said that a care package is on its way.

The entire post reads:

Yesterday I had a post talking about my husband and his Doctor recommending Destiny to serve as a form of physical therapy for him following several brain surgeries. This community was amazing, and raid groups are being organized for him out of all the people who offered to help him.

But just as amazing, Deej contacted me and has sent my husband a care package from Bungie that is on the way. Then this morning, a message from Deej told us to have my husband check with Tess the Post Master in the tower. Lots of screaming ensued.

He has been sent the exotic gun Fate Of All Fools, a solar primary that looks like it will be available in future content.

Vision of Confluence had been my husbands dream weapon, as scout is his favorite and he wanted that solar damage. A more perfect weapon could not have been chosen. I’m so jealous, but mostly so damn happy for him. As for him– well, you can imagine 🙂

Thank you guys for being such a caring community. Thank you Deej and the crew at Bungie, you’ve made him ecstatic.

That makes her husband the only player in the world to hold such a rare gift.

Activision and Bungie today announced that Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below will be available for download on December 9th.

The Dark Below marks the first expansion to the universe since Destiny’s record-breaking launch in September and features all-new weapons and gear to earn through new story, co-operative and multiplayer activities.

“Destiny was created as a living universe, which has allowed us to improve the experience post launch in real-time,” says Harold Ryan, President of Bungie. “It also gives us insight into the things players are looking for in new content. We’ve seen from feedback that people want new activities, gear and weapons and of course the immensely popular Raid. The community helps shape our development decisions and that’s really important to us.”

Destiny Expansion I: The Dark Below will feature the following:

o   New weapons, armour and gear to earn, including Legendary and Exotic items
o   Light Level cap raised to 32 and five additional Bounty slots added
o   New story quests and missions – after years hiding amongst the Hive shadows, a new character, Eris, has come forth bearing an ominous warning: The Hive seek to summon a god, Crota, to destroy the Earth. Find Eris in the Tower to take on special quests that include three new missions where you will increase your Light and earn new rewards
o   New co-operative Strike, The Will of Crota, pits you and your Fireteam against Omnigul as she works to expand the Hive army at the command of her master, Crota
o   Three new competitive multiplayer arenas
§  Pantheon – set deep within the Black Garden in an ancient Vex temple that features Vex-designed landscapes and tight corridors
§  Skyshock – an old interplanetary defence array that offers both vehicle and infantry engagements
§  The Cauldron – an abandoned Hive ritual site that offers close-quarter combat
o   New six-player Raid, Crota’s End, set deep within the depths of the Hellmouth
o   PlayStation platforms will also get access to an exclusive co-operative Strike, The Undying Mind and an exotic weapon, and more (timed exclusive until at least Autumn 2015)

Players can purchase The Dark Below individually (£19.99), or as part of the Destiny Expansion Pass (£34.99), which includes both Expansion I and Expansion II, on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360.
