PlayStation®4
PS4 continues to remain the fastest-selling console in PlayStation ® history with more than 40 million units sold worldwide, and new game announcements revealed on stage at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles demonstrated how PS4’s library will further expand with an unparalleled line-up of games. SIE’s Worldwide Studios (SIE WWS) unveiled three new ambitious games during the show – God of War, Spider-Man and Days Gone. Developed by Santa Monica Studio, God of War opened the show with a reveal showcasing a refreshed gameplay experience that continues the next chapter for iconic character, Kratos.
As part of the reveal, renowned musical artist Bear McCreary, composer for God of War, shared his score for the game while conducting an incredible live orchestra.

The debut of Spider-Man for PS4 introduced players for the first time to an authentic new Spider-Man story and universe being developed through a close collaboration between Insomniac Games, Marvel and San Mateo Studio. Additionally, Days Gone marks the long-awaited return of Bend Studio, who debuted a trailer highlighting a story about loss and regret set in a stunningly realistic high-desert of the Pacific Northwest, and closed the press conference with a live demonstration of emergent, open-world gameplay.

Other featured titles from SIE WWS included highly-anticipated titles Horizon Zero Dawn, Detroit : Become Human, and The Last Guardian. SIEA also announced that The Last Guardian will launch on October 25, 2016. Also, in partnership with SIE, celebrated game creator Hideo Kojima took to the stage to announce his new PS4 exclusive title, DEATH STRANDING. DEATH STRANDING will be produced, written, directed and designed by Hideo Kojima himself, and will star actor Norman Reedus.

In addition to the wealth of content coming from SIE’s WWS, partnerships with the industry’s leading developers and publishers will further solidify PS4 as the best place to play for gamers. At the press conference, SIEA announced it has worked with Activision to bring back one of PlayStation’s fan favorite characters, Crash Bandicoot. Coming to PS4 first this October, Crash appears in Skylanders® Imaginators, the latest game from one of the most beloved franchises. Additionally, in 2017, fans can play Crash 1, Crash 2, and Crash Warped, fully remastered for PS4 by Activision and Vicarious Visions. SIE will also continue its partnership with Activision on Call of Duty®: Infinite Warfare, ensuring once again that PlayStation is home to one of the world’s biggest franchises. PlayStation 4 gamers will be the first to play all downloadable map packs from Infinite Warfare, and those who pre-purchase select editions of the game for PS4 will be the first to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered’s campaign 30 days prior to launch on November 4.

Additional featured partner titles shown during the conference include LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard, and FINAL FANTASY XV. PS4 owners will be the first to play the demo for the highly-anticipated LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the demo for RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard will be made available first to PlayStation®Plus members. Additionally, it was announced that RESIDENT EVIL 7 biohazard will be fully compatible with PS VR.

PlayStation®VR
When PS VR launches on October 13, 2016 in North America, it brings with it the opportunity for virtual reality to reach the mainstream, as all 40 million PS4s in gamers’ homes are PS VR-capable. From some of the biggest franchises in gaming to brand new titles created exclusively for PS VR, a wide breadth of unique experiences will await gamers when PS VR launches. During the conference, SIEA unveiled new PS VR experiences, including Farpoint, Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission, and Batman: Arkham VR. From developer Impulse Gear and SIE’s San Mateo Studio comes Farpoint, an unnerving VR space adventure that will set a new standard for immersive VR.

Batman: Arkham VR is from the critically-acclaimed Rocksteady Studios and is the first virtual reality Batman experience that will allow fans to experience Gotham City through the eyes of the World’s Greatest Detective in an all new Arkham mystery.

Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission will immerse players in one of the most dreamt about Star Wars™ fantasies – piloting an X-wing in the far reaches of space. This all-new mission will be exclusive to PS VR this holiday, and is free*** for owners of Star Wars Battlefront.

Train2Game News Star Wars Battlefront Beta

image

“Impressive. Most Impressive.” The Star Wars™ Battlefront™ beta surpassed a major milestone: more than nine million players logged in and played.

That makes this the single largest beta in the history of EA and they could not be happier that so many of you wanted to come in to get a small taste of what their passionate team has been working on.

Ever since Star Wars Battlefront was revealed back in April, they knew the beta would be a huge test for the game. The beta has been one of the most talked about topics around the game over the last six months, and EA were excited to see how it would be received.

And like Han Solo at the end of A New Hope, they were glad you showed up. Even more importantly than just showing up, players have been spending a lot of time playing, having a great time and leaving some invaluable feedback, as the game continues to be tuned and balance until launch on November 17, 2015 in North America, and November 19, 2015 in Europe.

A spokes person for EA said “On behalf of the team at DICE, and everyone at EA, thank you for playing. We hope you enjoyed what you played in the beta, which is just a small part of the overall experience. There’s a lot more to the game, including all of our multiplayer modes and mission types.”

Train2Game News Best Games at EGX voted by the public

image

The results are in: visitors to EGX 2015 have overwhelmingly chosen Star Wars Battlefront as their Game of the Show.

Star Wars Battlefront enjoyed a huge presence on the show floor. EA’s booth featured a 20 v. 20 battle arena in which the Rebel Alliance faced-off against the might of the Galactic Empire at the famous Battle of Hoth. The game was also playable on the PlayStation booth where the co-op Survival Mode entertained gamers. EA stole the social media show with the inclusion of a full scale TIE Fighter – the ship and pilot were photographed throughout EGX.

EGX 2015 provided a brilliant platform to launch new hardware – Virtual Reality exploded onto the UK at the event with HTC Vive, PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift all playable ahead of their upcoming retail debuts. HTC Vive, powered by Steam VR, proved particularly popular, wowing the crowds with its fully-immersive 3D world and netting a very impressive second place. Elsewhere, Ubisoft had a particularly successful show in the eyes of gamers with three of its games in the top 10. Square Enix was also notable with two titles including the 6th placed Just Cause 3.

Indie gaming proved incredibly popular with the Indie MEGABOOTH, Rezzed Zone and Leftfield Collection packed with gamers enjoying stacks of unique game experiences on offer. The wonderful Rezzed Sessions made their debut at EGX this year, rounding off a hugely successful indie area. With over 350 screens of indie gaming on offer this year it’s especially impressive that Gang Beasts landed Indie Game of the Show by a strong margin. Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Aaero rounded off the top three.

“Gamers from across the UK and beyond descended on the NEC, Birmingham to welcome EGX to its new home”, said David Lilley, Managing Director of Gamer Events. “With the ever-growing EGX community scoring both the venue and the accessibility of the location more highly than 2014, we know EGX is ideally situated as the premier gaming event in the UK. The incredible size and popularity of the indie gaming area means we’re extremely excited for our upcoming London event, EGX Rezzed. Train2Game News Star Wars Battlefront Beta

image

Since Star Wars™ Battlefront™ was revealed in April at Star Wars™ Celebration, many have been asking if there would be a Beta. Today, EA are thrilled to finally be able to answer that question, and the answer is yes!

Coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and on Origin for PC, the Star Wars Battlefront Beta is a technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth and a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will give you the chance to play as two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars™ universe: Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Beta will also feature a Survival Mission on Tatooine, where you and a Rebel friend must fight back waves of Imperial forces.

In addition to those two modes, EA have announced a brand-new mode that will be available in the Beta, Drop Zone. More details on Drop Zone will be revealed in the weeks ahead.

As part of the Star Wars Battlefront Beta the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience app was announced. Available during the Beta at www.StarWarsBattlefront.com, the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. In addition to Base Command, the Companion app also lets Rebels and Imperials alike check game stats and progression, customize load-outs and appearance, connect with friends, and get notified when they’re playing Star Wars Battlefront – as well as gather intel on their stats and progression so you can see how you match up!

The Star Wars Battlefront Companion will be available on web and in the Apple App Store™ and Google Play™ store prior to the release of Star Wars Battlefront on November 17.

More info regarding the Star Wars Battlefront Beta will be revealed in the weeks ahead.

Train2Game News Star Wars Battlefront release date

image

DICE, an Electronic Arts Inc. (NASDAQ: EA) studio, and Lucasfilm announced today that Star Wars Battlefront will be released on November 20, 2015 in the United Kingdom (November 17 in North America and starting November 19 in Europe) as the first full-length trailer for this highly anticipated title premiered to thousands of fans at Star Wars Celebration.

Combining an unprecedented collaboration with Lucasfilm and the award-winning Frostbite game engine, Star Wars Battlefront will deliver an incredibly authentic and immersive interactive entertainment experience featuring photorealistic visuals and epic action in iconic Star Wars locations. See how this comes to life in-engine by experiencing the newest trailer for Star Wars Battlefront below.

“Like so many others around the world, everyone at DICE is a tremendous fan of the Star Wars universe,” said Sigurlina Ingvarsdottir, Senior Producer of Star Wars Battlefront. “To be working on a Star Wars project and knowing we are helping to represent the universe we love to our generation and a legion of new Star Wars fans is truly an honor. Thanks to the access and knowledge shared with us by Lucasfilm, and the passion and talent of our team, we plan to deliver an amazing game that puts you right in the middle of the Star Wars battles you always imagined playing.”

Star Wars Battlefront will allow fans to live out a wide range of heroic moments and intense battle fantasies of their own – firing blasters, riding speeder bikes and snow speeders, commanding AT-ATs and piloting TIE fighters and the Millennium Falcon. These battles will take place on some of the most iconic planets in the Star Wars universe, including Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and the previously unexplored planet, Sullust. Gamers will be able to play as some of the most memorable characters in the original trilogy such as Darth Vader and Boba Fett. Star Wars Battlefront will feature a wide range of modes tailored for different types of battles, from larger 40-person competitive multiplayer to crafted missions that are played solo, with a friend via split-screen offline or co-operatively online.

Fans who pre-order Star Wars Battlefront will be among the first players to experience the Battle of Jakku, the pivotal moment when the New Republic confronted key Imperial holdouts on a remote desert planet on the Outer Rim. Taking place in the aftermath of the Rebel victory in the Battle of Endor, players will experience the events that created the massive, battle-scarred landscape of Jakku shown in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
