Train2Game News Assassin’s Creed Chronicles

image

Ubisoft announced the Assassin’s Creed Chronicles trilogy, which will take players to China, India and Russia and follow the stories of three cult Assassins.

The first chronicle, set in China, will be available April 22 in the UK for download on PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system, Xbox One, the all-in-one games and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows PC. Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: China will be followed by Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India and Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, which will release separately.

Developed by Climax Studios in collaboration with Ubisoft Montreal, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles brings the thrill of being a Master Assassin to 2.5D. Players will journey to three distinct civilisations and time periods throughout history including the Ming dynasty at the start of its downfall, the Sikh Empire as it prepares for war in India and the aftermath of the Red October revolution. Each chronicle stands on its own with a unique setting, art style, story and Assassin, but is tied together narratively.

Players will embody legendary Assassins, including Shao Jun from the animated short Assassin’s Creed Embers, and Arbaaz Mir and Nikolaï Orelov from the Assassin’s Creed graphic novels. Assassinate from the shadows, master the art of parkour and take the leap of faith in a collection of stunning, living paintings. Each chronicle has its own artistic signature, from the beautiful brush paintings of China to the vibrant colors of India and the distinctive propaganda art style of Russia.

Raptr, a leading optimization platform for PC gamers, today officially launched Plays.tv, a fun, easy way for gamers to capture their most interesting gameplay moments and instantly share them.

Dedicated to celebrating the pro in every gamer, Plays.tv gives all players a new way to memorialize their epic wins and fails as well as a community centered on reliving those moments with others. Raptr today also announced $14 million in new financing, some of which will be allocated to further expansion of Plays.tv.

“To me, chatting with my friends about all the funny and amazing things that happened in the game we just played is often as much fun as playing the game itself,” said Dennis “Thresh” Fong, founder and CEO of Raptr and an early eSports star. “Everyone experiences moments they want to remember when gaming; Plays.tv makes saving those moments as easy as taking a screenshot and provides a fun community to share them with.”

“At Team Dignitas, we’re always looking for new ways to engage with our fans,” said Michael O’Dell, Managing Director of Team Dignitas. “Plays.tv makes it super simple to capture highlight moments from our matches without the hassles of editing, and it’s awesome to have a dedicated community to share them with so our fans can relive those moments with us.”

Since introducing gameplay recording in Raptr nine months ago, Raptr users have captured more than four million highlight videos from their gaming sessions. Plays.tv was created to provide gamers with a dedicated home to showcase their favorite moments.

Also introduced today in Beta, the Plays.tv client is a free, fast, and simple way to capture, edit, and share gameplay clips and post them to your Plays.tv feed and other social networks like Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. The Plays.tv client automatically starts recording during gameplay and uses hardware-accelerated video encoding to ensure minimal impact on performance. The Plays.tv client can optionally capture the user’s webcam (picture-in-picture) and can also automatically import videos recorded using other software such as OBS, Raptr, and Nvidia’s Shadowplay for easy editing and sharing. The Plays.tv client works with any PC game.

Gamers can use Plays.tv to:

Instantly share short highlights from any game (up to the last 20 mins)
Edit and trim clips from full session replays
Follow friends, eSports stars, popular streamers and others
Simultaneously post videos to Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and other social networks
Relive amazing moments with friends and the community

Raptr’s new round of financing includes funding from Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as well as funding from existing investors Accel Partners, DAG Ventures, and Tenaya Capital. With this financing, the company has raised a total of $41 million in equity funding since its inception in 2007.

Train2Game News Havok enjoying 2015

image

Havok has enjoyed a strong start to 2015 with a variety of Havok-powered titles earning the highest industry accolades, including the BAFTA Best Game Award for Destiny and the Game Developers Choice Awards Game of the Year honor for Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor.

These and other Havok-powered AAA games were acknowledged within critics and peer-voted awards ceremonies during the 2015 awards season and demonstrate a renewed and increasingly acknowledged appreciation for AAA developers in pushing the technological and design boundaries of gaming ever outward.

Havok has long maintained close partnerships with the key AAA developers who have crafted some of the most indelible and critically-acclaimed titles of all time. The recent award winning games are merely a small slice of the outstanding AAA games that chose to adopt Havok technology in the past year, including Sunset Overdrive, Far Cry 4 and Dragon Age: Inquisition, titles that Havok highlight as proof of a resurgent AAA gaming segment.

“At Havok, we’re proud of our AAA roots.  From your first uneasy steps into Rapture, the first time you use the Gravity Gun, and the first time your nemesis in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor openly mocks you after a bitter defeat, these are the experiences we remember, and these are the games Havok is proud to support via our technology and knowhow,” Says David Coghlan, President and Managing Director of Havok. “There are true visionaries at work at these game studios, and they’re the ones who create these worlds through their passion and talent. At Havok, we are proud to see these incredibly creative teams realize their visions by leveraging Havok Technology and Support. Hearty congratulations to all the teams at this year’s GDCAs and BAFTA Game Awards for their well-earned recognition and their landmark achievements in game development.”

Alongside critical acclaim there is ample evidence of the renewed optimism being felt in the AAA gaming segment. With console hardware sales buoyant and global home console software revenue forecast to top $24bn by 2017, it’s clear that the death of AAA console gaming has been greatly exaggerated. This buoyant market validates Havok’s strategy to be the world’s leading provider of technology to the AAA game development industry.
