Warner Bros. Games and DC today unleashed a new story trailer for Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, the genre-defying, action-adventure third-person shooter in development from Rocksteady Studios, creators of the critically acclaimed Batman: Arkham series.
Debuted at DC FanDome, the brand-new story trailer sheds light on the origins of Amanda Waller’s infamous Task Force X (a.k.a. the Suicide Squad) as Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark grudgingly embark on their mission to take down the World’s Greatest DC Super Heroes, The Justice League.
Featuring an original narrative set within an expansive open-world Metropolis, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League puts the four DC Super-Villains on a collision course with an invading alien force and DC Super Heroes who are now laser-focused on destroying the city they once vowed to protect. All the while, the squad must be mindful of the lethal explosives implanted in their heads that could go off at the first sign of defiance.

Acer today announced the expansion of its Predator gaming portfolio with new Predator Orion 7000 series desktops, featuring powerful performance in a stunning design, and two smart 4K gaming projectors.
Further enhancing the gaming experience is the Predator gaming desk, which offers two practical surface options and a convenient storage rack.
“Predator Orion 7000-series desktops are premium, powerful rigs for serious players who demand incredible performance from even the most demanding titles,” said Jeff Lee, General Manager, Stationary Computing, IT Product Business, Acer Inc.
“In order to offer that next-level performance, we’re excited to be among the first companies bringing the new 12th Gen Intel Core CPUs to our product portfolio.”
“12th Gen Intel Core desktop processors are a huge innovative leap forward for game performance and industry-leading memory, I/O and connectivity,” said Marcus Kennedy, General Manager of Gaming and Esports, Intel.
“Powering the pinnacle of its performance is the new performance hybrid architecture that combines two all-new compute cores to deliver blistering performance for high frame rates and multi-tasking performance that modern gamers expect.”
Predator Orion 7000 – Upgradeable, Liquid-Cooled Gaming PC The powerful new Predator Orion 7000 series (PO7-640) gaming desktops provide users with everything necessary to take on the latest generation games—and the next. Designed for hard-core gaming enthusiasts, these new upgradeable gaming PCs will be equipped with the latest 12th Gen Intel® Core™ overclockable processors, up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 3090 series GPUs[[1]], and up to 64 GB DDR5-4000 RAM.
The stunning, EMI-compliant chassis features transparent, tempered glass side panels showcasing two 140 mm (5.5-inch) Predator FrostBlade™ 2.0 front fans and a third 120 mm (4.7-inch) Predator FrostBlade™ 2.0 rear fan that can be lit with a dazzling array of ARGB colours. The top of the Orion 7000’s case features an opening, making it possible for users to replace this 120 mm (4.7-inch) fan with a 240 mm (9.45-inch) one, while integrated PredatorSense software lets gamers control the ARBG lighting, fan speed and overclocking. Accenting the bold lighting and design is an illuminated teal blue Predator logo on the chassis’ front and an easily accessible teal prism-refraction power button on the system’s top.
Beyond these eye-catching aesthetics is exceptional thermal management, with the three aforementioned Predator FrostBlade™ 2.0 fans in addition to an AIO liquid CPU cooler and advanced airflow management to effectively cool system components. The FrostBlade fan’s thin and curved blades are designed to smoothly increase airflow without causing turbulence and to quickly dissipate heat. In addition, the fan’s wear-resistant and fully-sealed rifle bearings prevent lubricant leaks and the ingress of dust in order to maintain stability and extend the computer’s lifespan.
Intel® Killer™ 2.5G LAN gives gamers a competitive edge by detecting and prioritizing game traffic over other network traffic, resulting in smoother and faster connectivity for online games and streaming media. Intel® WiFi 6E (AX211)[1] and 2×2 MU-MIMO technology provide fast and secure wireless connectivity. A gaming beast, the Predator Orion 7000 provides plenty of ports for leveraging the latest gaming accessories. On the chassis’ front for quick access are three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type A, one USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type C, and two audio jacks. On the back, there are three USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A, one USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 Type-C, two USB 2.0 ports, and three audio jacks.
Featuring ample storage, the rig includes a 2.5-inch USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C hotswap drive bay, 2x M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVIMe SSDs (up to 1 TB each) and two 3.5-inch SATA3 HDD (up to 3 TB each).
Predator GD711 and Predator GM712 Gaming Projectors The Predator GD711 is a smart 4K LED gaming projector that is compatible with both console and PC gaming systems. The projector also features a built-in app market[[2]] that offers users access to a variety of streaming services. The Predator GD711 features a wide color gamut that amounts to 125% of the area ratio of Rec. 709[[3]], covering most of the color space within the gamut in addition to a significant area outside of it to offer gamers impressive levels of colour saturation. 4,000 LED lumens of brightness, high dynamic contrast and HDR10 performance ensures that content looks brilliant.
The projector includes several modes that users can shift between depending on their mood. Standard mode offers 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution for enjoying movies and videos in sharp detail, while two game modes—one for bright scenes, another for dark ones—let users pick frame settings optimized for the aesthetics of the game they’re playing. The Predator GD711 projects images with a variable refresh rate mode[[4]] of 1080p@120 Hz for consoles or up to a blazing fast 1080p@240 Hz for PCs, delivering buttery smooth performance even in the busiest of scenes. Furthermore, projecting at just 23 dBa when in ECO mode, this game-ready home theatre won’t break your immersion, either.
The Predator GD711 features a throw ratio of 1.22, which means it supports a wide range of throw sizes. Acer’s recommendation is a 100-inch screen thrown from just 2.70 m (8.85 ft). It also comes with the convenience of a 10W speaker and remote control that has an antimicrobial[[5]] coating on its surface and buttons. Excellent airflow dissipates heat, helping to deliver a long 30,000-hour lifespan. Connectivity options include two HDMI 2.0 ports for PCs and consoles, audio out for an extra speaker and three USB Type-A ports: One for the projector’s hidden wireless dongle, another for connecting wireless accessories, and another for DC 5V-out that also enables users to update the device’s firmware.
For users who prefer lamp-based projectors, the Predator GM712 is also available with 4K resolution and 3,600 ANSI lumens of brightness.
Predator Gaming Desk The large 55-inch Predator gaming desk (PGD110) provides ample room for a gaming system, monitor, accessories, and more. Gamers can choose from two surfaces: one coated in easy-to-clean, stylish carbon fibre or another covered with a custom-designed Predator mouse pad. Outfitted with ample storage space, the Predator gaming desk comes with a rack for storing gamepads and/or cartridges, a headphone hook, a cup holder, and a tray tucked in the back for AC adapters. It also has the convenience of a headset cradle to save desk space, a cup holder to prevent spills, and a cable management cutout on each side of the desk to keep cables organized and out of the way. The desk is sturdy with the ability to hold up to 120 kg (264 lbs).

After a successful journey gathering data from 4.3 million participating players, the groundbreaking citizen science app Sea Hero Quest is now available for studies of cognition and spatial navigation.
Sea Hero Quest started out in 2016 as a consumer mobile game to help scientists understand navigational abilities across the life course. By building a picture of how navigation ability changes in the general population, players could contribute to research identifying changes characteristic of early Alzheimer’s disease.
Originally led by Deutsche Telekom alongside Alzheimer’s Research UK and leaders in gaming, technology, academia and research, the award-winning app quickly became a citizen science phenomenon.
Tim Parry, Director at Alzheimer’s Research UK, helped to bring the app to the public. He said: “We were really humbled by the response. It was more popular than we could ever have expected, and we ultimately collected data from over 117 years of combined game play. People from all over the world downloaded Sea Hero Quest and provided anonymised demographic information so that we now have an incredible wealth of data relating to navigation ability as we age.”
Although the consumer version was removed from app stores when the original project concluded, Alzheimer’s Research UK has once again partnered with game developers GLITCHERS, University College London, the University of East Anglia, and web developers BoldLight to create a bespoke version for researchers.
Parry continues: “While clearly we embarked on the project with dementia studies in mind, we want to mobilise this resource towards the greatest possible benefit for global research. The app is free for researchers in any field, and we have developed a highly-usable study administration dashboard, with guidance and support for those looking to use it in their studies.”
This new phase of the project aims to provide researchers with a controllable, sensitive, safe, and easy way to administer digital cognitive assessment of navigation ability. The system allows researchers to create and fully manage prospective studies, invite targeted groups of participants to play through an easily download from the Android or Apple app stores, and provides access to study participants’ data in real time.
Prof Hugo Spires from University College London collaborated in the development and validation of the Sea Hero Quest app. Prof Spires’ team has led the analysis of the anonymous player data. He said: “Our validation testing showed that performance in the game is strongly correlated with performance in real-world tasks. While data gathered from citizen science projects is inherently noisy compared to lab research, the unprecedented scale of the project so far means that our benchmarking data far exceeds the accuracy of previous research in this area.
“The citizen science element of this project has already revealed new insights into human spatial navigation at a planet-wide scale. We’ve found that these abilities are clustered according to economic wealth and gender inequalities globally, and this may have significant implications for cognitive testing in cross-cultural studies and multi-centre clinical trials.”
Prof Michael Hornberger from the University of East Anglia had the original idea for the project. Prof Hornberger has been leading on applying the platform to dementia research. He said: “While obvious difficulties navigating commonly occur alongside cognitive problems in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease, emerging evidence suggested that subtle navigation changes can precede memory deficits by many years. Detecting these changes could potentially allow for earlier diagnosis and, ultimately, earlier intervention. The challenge we have is reliably distinguishing the navigation changes we see in healthy ageing from the early signs of Alzheimer’s.
“The data from the mass-market phase of Sea Hero Quest is now helping to overcome this. My team has used the platform to show that we can detect people who are at genetic risk of Alzheimer’s based on how they play the game. These are people without deficits in standard neuropsychological testing.
“We are still in the early stages of our work with Sea Hero Quest and what it can help us to learn about the early stages of dementia. I hope that other areas of medical and psychological research take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the new phase of the project so that we maximise the potential of this powerful platform for research.”
The UK games industry is supporting a new Play & Talk Weekend running from Friday 8th October to Sunday 10th October with the aim of giving thousands of players advice on positive mental health.
A number of leading UK games companies will be running a range of activities over the weekend and promoting messages on social media to encourage players to find time to play games and talk with their friends to support their mental health.
Headline activities include:
An Apex Legends tournament from Gaming Merchant and Simply Ashton, with the support of the team from Electronic Arts in the UK.
A panel at EGX dedicated to games and mental health, featuring Ellen Rose from Outside Xtra and Rosie Taylor from Safe in our World.
A Friday evening stream from Futurlab highlighting Powerwash Simulator to demonstrate the calmer side of play.
Mental health messaging being included in games by Codemasters to support the Every Mind Matters campaign.
A wide range of UK games companies will also be posting supportive messages on social media, directing their communities to advice on how to manage their mental health.
Other companies and individual influencers are also being invited to participate and support the cause by talking about key campaign messages online to raise awareness of mental health, and by donating to charity partners Mind, Safe in our World and The Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM).
The campaign is also partnering with the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities (OHID) Better Health Every Mind Matters initiative, which is set to offer further advice on protecting and improving mental health. Players will be encouraged to complete a free NHS-assured Mind Plan, answering five simple questions to receive a personalised action plan of tips and advice to support their wellbeing.
“We hosted our first Play & Talk weekend in June 2020 to bring players together during lockdown,” said Dr Jo Twist OBE, CEO of Ukie. “With Covid having taken a considerable mental toll on all of us, we want to come together again as an industry to encourage players and streamers to talk and support each other.”
Ian O’Reilly, Head of Community & Events Fundraising at Mind, said: “When we decided to launch our first ever streaming fundraising product last Spring, we had already noticed a growing trend of more fundraisers choosing to do gaming and streaming activity for Mind. We were also aware that gaming offers some positive benefits to our mental health. In our recent survey of people with mental health problems, we found that a third of young people said they had coped with the pressures of the pandemic through gaming. Playing games can help us to relax, socialise and find peer support, as well as providing a way to keep our mind stimulated, occupied and challenged.
“Since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, the gaming community has united to raise over £500,000 for Mind. This money helps us to be there for as many people who need us as possible by enabling us to continue to provide services like Mind Infoline, which offers confidential information and support, our legal line, and our online peer support community for adults, Side by Side. We are really grateful to this incredible community for their ongoing energy and passion in gaming for better mental health, and we look forward to what’s in store over Play & Talk Weekend.”
“We are so fortunate to be in an industry where the goal is to make incredible interactive entertainment that people enjoy all over the world,” said Samantha Ebelthite, Commercial Markets Director for Electronic Arts and Vice Chair of the Ukie board. “Video games help billions of people connect with one another through play and during lockdowns online play has been a lifesaver for people who would otherwise be on their own. We know how important these connections are to our players and initiatives like Play & Talk are crucial in reminding us all to reach out and talk with people, whether they be new connections or old friends.”
Clare Perkins, Deputy Director of Personalised Prevention, OHID said: “We are pleased to be working in partnership with Ukie’s Play & Talk weekend, to help players take positive steps to look after their mental health. There are little things we can all do to improve our wellbeing and it’s important to find out what works for you. The Every Mind Matters campaign has lots of tips and advice to help get you started, such as the free Mind Plan quiz with personalised ideas to help boost your mood and feel more in control.”
Companies and streamers who wish to support the Play & Talk weekend can still let us know they’re getting involved, either through the Ukie website or by using the #PlayandTalk.
