Train2Game News: UK Top 20 Games – 03.04.13

Bioshock InfiniteThe game charts have been released a little later this week because of the bank holiday. BioShock Infinite has made its debut at number 1 and in my opinion, rightly so. Look out for my review of the game coming soon. Luigi’s Mansion came in at number 5 just ahead of other new comer, Army of Two: The Devils Cartel. The final two new additions to the chart are Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14 which came in at number 8 and Lego City Undercover which came in at number 12.

Train2Game News: BioShock Infinite “False Shepard” Trailer

BioShock InfiniteTrain2Game news has been sent another new trailer for the upcoming BioShock Infinite. This trailer features lots of game play and really gets you excited for the games release.

BioShock infinite comes out on March 26 and from its announcement back in August of 2010 there has been numerous teaser trailers and screenshots.

There is now only two more weeks to go before we get our hands on the game and explore the rich environment of Columbia. Will this game live up to all the hype it has received?

The trailer begins with introducing the premise of lead man Booker’s trip to Columbia, before bursting into an eloquent display of Booker and Elizabeth in combat, downing vigors, creating tears, and partaking in all-out dystopian chaos.

I am, personally, incredibly excited for this game and I can not wait to play it. Enjoy the trailer

Barack Obama speaks at the Rodon Group in PennsylvaniaIt’s the end of the week so Train2Game News will bring you some of the news stories of the week!

United States president, Barack Obama, revealed he was in favour of computer programming lessons in schools as part of a Google+ discussion. He said he wanted people to understand the principles involved in a career in videogames such as maths, science and design.

Following the troubles THQ had they have sold the rights to the WWE video game series to 2K. 2K are more than familiar with sports titles having previously developed the entire NBA series of games since 2011. The series, which will continue to be developed by Yukes in Japan and will combine the studio’s signature gameplay with 2K’s commitment to authenticity in this years WWE ’14.

In addition 2K Games and Irrational Games today announced that production of downloadable content has recently begun for their forthcoming BioShock Infinite and revealed details of the BioShock Infinite Season Pass. Three all-new add-on packs are in development that will provide hours of additional gameplay and continue the player’s journey in the sky-city of Columbia with new stories, characters, abilities and weapons. The BioShock Infinite Season Pass will be available on March 26, 2013 when the game is planned to launch.

Despite Sony showing the currently-available PS Move controller being used with PS4 during the console’s unveiling event on Wednesday, the firm says the new console will not support the use of the standard DualShock 3 controller. The reasons are unclear since the DS3 controller uses the same industry-standard Bluetooth 2.0 tech as the Move controller to connect with PS3, which suggests PS4 will have Bluetooth 2.0 capabilities.

Commander Shepard’s story is finally coming to an end with the announcement of the last bit of single player DLC. Available on March 5th, Mass Effect: Citadel will see Shepard “explore and discover new locations across the vast, deep-space station” while reconnecting with some recognizable characters from the series past. Mass Effect was truly a great game, a save game that lasted six years across three games. Commander Shepard and the crew of the Normandy shall be missed.

In previous Bioshock games, the moral decisions have been to choose whether the Little Sisters lived or died. In Bioshock Infinite, the decisions you have to make are more powerful and less commonplace. BioShock Infinite will still present plenty of moral quandaries, but these are not tied to a specific system that in turn determines what ending you’ll get.

Google is to provide UK schools with 15,000 free Raspberry Pi Model B computers. Qualifications awarding body OCR will also create free teaching and learning packs to go with each Raspberry Pi. Responding to the news, games industry veteran Ian Livingstone said: “Putting Raspberry Pis into the hands of children on this scale is potentially the most positive initiative to spur digital creativity since the advent of the BBC Micro in the 1980s.”

Lifetime Xbox 360 sales look certain to overtake those of current-gen leader Nintendo Wii in the UK. Microsoft’s console was less than 200,000 sales behind Wii at the end of December, having sold over four times more units than Wii in 2012. Nintendo UK confirmed before Christmas that around 8 million Wii consoles had been sold in the UK. Despite a reported 33% decline in video game console sales last year, Xbox 360 is said to have outsold its current-gen rivals by a “significant margin” in Britain during 2012. Nintendo DS and PlayStation 2 remain the UK’s first and second best selling games consoles respectively, with Wii and Xbox 360 currently in third and fourth spots.

Train2Game News: Coming soon in 2013

DeadpoolAs big as 2012 has been, 2013 has more to come.

The first thing of 2013 to be keeping an eye on will be how well the Wii U does following it’s release and the Christmas rush. Will it be as big a hit as Nintendo hopes or will it fail to reach expectations?

A number of new blockbusters are coming next year with a lot of new sequels. For example 2013 will see the release of Rockstars GTA V and 2Ks Bioshock: Infinite. From what has been released of the games so far they both look stunning and both have been pegged as being big hits.

There are also two reboot games coming out next year. The first being the new Devil May Cry, being developed by the English based Ninja Studios and Tomb Raider being published by Square Enix. I played both games at Eurogamer, Tomb Raiders graphics are truly jaw dropping and Devil May Cry looks to be very action packed with good effects.

A new IP that could be a wild card is Deadpool. The game based on the Marvel Comics star.  The game is being developed by High Moon Studios and is due to be published by Activision in 2013. Regular Deadpool comic writer Daniel Way will pen the script, and Nolan North, who has voiced Deadpool in other media, will reprise his role. This could go either way, this is definitely a wait and see game.

There are a lot of big goings on in 2013 that should lead the gaming industry in to bigger and better things. It’s going to be exciting.

Train2Game News: New Bioshock Infinite trailer

2K Games have released a brand new trailer for the upcoming Bioshock Infinite.

This game looks like a prime example of how you can take a game and put it in to a whole new setting and it still looks incredible.

Train2Game news: Bioshock Infinite delayed for extra development time

Train2Game students will need to wait until next year to play Bioshock Infinite as Irrational Games’ upcoming shooter is delayed until 26th February 2013. The announcement came from publisher 2K.

“When we announced the release date of BioShock Infinite in March, we felt pretty good about the timing.” said Bioshock Infinite creative director Ken Levine.

“Since then, we’ve uncovered opportunities to make Infinite into something even more
extraordinary. Therefore, to give our talented team the time they need to deliver the best Infinite possible, we’ve decided to move the games release to February.”

Essentially, Bioshock Infinite is delayed in order to give Irrational more time to work on the game that was scheduled for release later this year. The Train2Game Blog has previously reported that Ken Levine said game developers need to be comfortable with throwing their work away.

There’s more Bioshock Infinite news here on The Train2Game Blog.

What are your thoughts on the decision to delay Bioshock Infinite? Will the game ultimately be better because of the extra time?
