Train2Game News Evercade Retro Portability

The ‘Evercade’, a brand new handheld is taking on the likes of Nintendo and SEGA’s ‘Mini’ consoles with an expanding library of cartridges that already includes the likes of Namco Museum (Pac-Man, Dig-Dug and Galaxian), Atari (Asteroids, Centipede and Pong), Interplay (Earthworm Jim and Clayfighter) and more – with over 100 games confirmed for the system already!

Cartridges offer between 6 and 20 games and come in classic numbered plastic cases, for those who love to display their game collections.

Product Development Director – Andrew Byatt quoted:
“We have seen the flood of ‘mini’ consoles into the market and whilst we love these products, they have a short shelf life. They’re great fun and offer excellent content, but they are not expandable. Our cartridge-based system enables you to purchase one piece of hardware and then add new content for a low additional cost. It’s a great value, future proof investment”.

The console features a 4.3″ screen (the same size as the original PSP) and has been developed to deliver an authentic gameplay experience. You can also save your game at any point and load instantly – making those difficult retro games that bit more accessible. The Evercade offers HDMI connectivity – with HD up-scaling on all games. This allows retro enthusiasts to play both on the move and in their homes. The best of both worlds.

Not limiting themselves to the games of the past, Evercade is also making indie games available on their new platform. They have already signed Mega Cat Studios (known for titles such as Log Jammers, Coffee Crisis and Almost Hero), with more to be announced after launch.

They have promised more retro cartridges to add to the 9 available at launch. All cartridges retail at only £14.99 / €17.99 / $19.99

Evercade will be available for pre-order worldwide from 10 am (BST) Friday 6th September from just £59.99 / €69.99 / $79.99 – for a complete list of stockists visit: http://evercade.co.uk

Train2Game News World of Warcraft Classic Live

All current World of Warcraft subscribers can start playing Classic today at no additional cost!

WoW® Classic rings in the game’s 15th anniversary, with celebrations in Battle for Azeroth™ to follow in the coming months

Grizzled veterans and hardy newcomers alike can now experience Azeroth as it was in its earliest days with World of Warcraft® Classic, which is live starting today and included at no additional cost as part of everyone’s WoW® subscription globally. World of Warcraft Classic has been a labor of love for Blizzard, and the result is an authentic re-creation of the pre-expansion game in its most feature-complete state, as it was during 2006’s “Drums of War” update (patch 1.12.0). Blizzard has continued to bring WoW Classic realms online around the world to accommodate the more than two million players who have created characters in anticipation of today’s launch, and will work to add more based on player population trends.

World of Warcraft®, which has been played by more than 140 million players over the past 15 years,* has evolved considerably across seven expansions, with numerous features, enhancements, and quality-of-life improvements. In many ways, World of Warcraft Classic is more unrelenting and demanding of self-direction from players than today’s version of the game. Bonds among the community are paramount—activities like raids and dungeon runs must be organized collectively by players on the same realm, with the toughest challenges requiring 40 coordinated and committed souls to surmount.

Classic’s Azeroth is equal parts wonder and hazard, and its trials will push players to their limits. The Alliance and the Horde, in the midst of outright war, are made to reckon with forces whose powers transcend their own brutal conflict—including some of the most iconic and love-hated of villains of the Warcraft® universe, like Ragnaros the Firelord and the Archlich Kel’Thuzad.

“It’s been a long time coming, but we’re overjoyed to welcome our friends new and old to classic Azeroth,” said J. Allen Brack, president of Blizzard Entertainment. “The community’s excitement is infectious and deeply motivating—it’s clear they’re as thrilled as we are to relive the World of Warcraft Classic experience. We look forward to rediscovering its wonders and challenges together with them, starting today.”

World of Warcraft Classic will continue to expand in the weeks and months following today’s launch, allowing players the opportunity to live through pivotal moments in Azeroth history previously lost to time. Among the host of features and activities set to be introduced to the game across six phases are iconic raids like Blackwing Lair, Zul’Gurub, and Naxxramas; player-versus-player battlegrounds like Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin, and the classic version of Alterac Valley; and time-limited server-wide events like the Ahn’Qiraj War Effort, and the Scourge Invasion.

Train2Game News Streets Of Rage 4 New Character

Fans looking forward to playing Streets of Rage 4 next year will be able to do so on their platform of choice as publisher and co-developer Dotemu (Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, Windjammers 1 and 2) with co-developers Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap) and Guard Crush Games (Streets of Fury) today announced that the title will make its way on to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

A brand new gameplay trailer released today also introduced the latest character to join Blaze Fielding and Axel Stone: a badass guitar-playing warrior named Cherry Hunter.

Trailer: https://youtu.be/LTZajRoULlQ

Cherry Hunter is the daughter of Adam Hunter from the original Streets of Rage.

Trained by her father and Axel, Cherry learned self-defense from a young age. Her interest in following in her father’s footsteps and becoming a cop soon faded out, replaced by her love of music. Nowadays, she plays with her electro progressive rock band in some of the most dangerous places in Wood Oak City. She may look young but make no mistake – she is a seasoned veteran of kicking ass and taking names.

The new trailer also reveals several more levels in the upcoming game at different times of day: neon lighted urban rooftops, elevator, seedy airport hangars, dirty sewers, thumping music stage and many more are all yours for the taking – lay the smackdown and don’t look back.

Streets of Rage 4 will be the first entry to the core series in 25 years, standing as Axel and Blaze’s glorious return to serving up side-scrolling beatdowns. With lush hand-drawn animations, new combat abilities, and fresh tracks from an amazing team of composers, Streets of Rage 4 will be a masterful tribute to and revitalization of the classic action fans adore.

Train2Game News Disintegration

Private Division and V1 Interactive today revealed first details of the upcoming sci-fi shooter, Disintegration, which included a riveting single-player campaign, multiplayer featuring three distinct game modes, and a first glimpse at the game world.

Disintegration will launch digitally for $49.99 on PC, PlayStation®4, PlayStation®4 Pro and across the Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One X.

The game is developed by V1 Interactive, an independent studio of about 30 industry veterans and new talent who have worked on titles such as Halo, Destiny, SOCOM US Navy Seals, and more. The team is being led by Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo and former creative director of Bungie.

In Disintegration, players will journey to the near future, when humankind is on the brink of extinction and turns to technology in their hope of survival. Through a process known as Integration, the human brain is removed and surgically encased into a robotic armature. A domineering enemy superpower known as the Rayonne emerges, driven mad by their newfound supremacy, and begin capturing what remains of humanity forcing them into robotic Integration.

“Disintegration is not your standard first-person shooter and it will challenge how you approach the battlespace,” said Marcus Lehto, President and Game Director at V1 Interactive.

“You will explore a world forever changed by an ongoing global conflict. The only way to save life as we know it is by making strategic decisions in every firefight, both as an armed Gravcycle pilot and as the commander of your crew.

“The game takes place in this beautiful world and has a story wrought with hardship and triumph. Both of these aspects could be the focal point of a single game, but V1 takes it one step further,” said Kari Toyama, Senior Producer at Private Division. “Not only does Disintegration bring an immersive game world and gripping narrative, the game delivers the ability to sit both within and above combat in completely different way than anything else out there right now.”

Disintegration will feature a full single-player campaign where the player takes on the role of Romer Shoal, an expert in piloting a Gravcycle, a hovering quad-engine vehicle originally used for search and rescue missions that has been transformed into an armored chassis bristling with powerful weapons. Romer commands a small resistance force fighting to save what remains of humanity.

The game will also feature three different multiplayer game modes at launch, each with a variety of maps. These frantic team-based battles require smart coordination, utilizing ground units with individual abilities while simultaneously maximizing the destructive weapons on the Gravcycle. Players will choose from several Crews, each featuring a unique loadout and role in combat.

Disintegration will be available in calendar year 2020, during Take-Two’s fiscal year 2021 (April 1, 2020 to March 31, 2021) digitally for PlayStation®4, PlayStation®4 Pro and across the Xbox One family of devices, including Xbox One X, and PC via Steam for 49.99 pounds.

Disintegration is not yet rated by the ESRB.

Train2Game News Roblox Hitting $100 Million

At RDC, its fifth annual developers conference, Roblox, an online platform bringing more than 100 million people together through play, unveiled the community was on pace to earn $100 million in 2019.

The company introduced a suite of tools to empower its global community of creators to build and more easily collaborate on immersive and massive 3D experiences.

“The Roblox creator community thinks of things we could never imagine, and their continued growth is our future,” said David Baszucki, founder and CEO, Roblox. “With top Roblox experiences achieving more than 100,000 concurrent users and 1 billion plays, there’s no denying the power of user-generated content. We are committed to supporting our creator community with the tools and resources they need to realize even greater success.”

Over the course of the three-day event in California and at a viewing party in London, 500+ top Roblox creators from around the world gathered to hear keynote presentations, attend breakout sessions and participate in the annual Game Jam. The global community of more than 2 million creators spans from young creators getting their start in game design and coding, to teams of ten or twenty people forming studios.

“I’ve been a member of the Roblox community for over a decade, first as a player, then as a developer and now as CEO of RedManta, a game studio dedicated purely to Roblox development. Building and creating are a passion of mine, and from the early days I saw a future growing alongside the platform,“ said Alexander Hicks, RedManta CEO and RDC attendee. ”With new tools and technology to more easily create massive and beautiful games, we are pushing even our own expectations for what we can create on Roblox, like our upcoming experience, World // Zero.”

“What I love about Roblox is that it breaks down the barriers for game designers, giving them a chance to be creative, try new things, and share it with a massive player community,” said Robin Hunicke, Funomena Co-founder, who delivered a keynote address at RDC on game design. She added, “The enthusiasm and camaraderie from these young creators was fantastic, and they share my belief in the power of games to bring people together. I can’t wait to see what they create next!”

Immersive, Massive 3D Experiences
Roblox introduced game creation tools to help small teams of developers easily build massive, more realistic experiences that support hundreds of players. This technology builds on the existing networking support and hosting services the company provides for free, which automatically scales in real-time to meet player demand. As part of the toolset, creators can leverage Roblox’s new enhanced lighting system and updated terrain and other visual upgrades to make deep, rich experiences that rival top mobile games. In addition, the company is enabling the community to easily build competitive matchmaking, which will ensure players of similar skill-levels can compete against one another.

Collaboration Tools
Roblox will make Roblox Studio fully cloud-based by the end of 2019, allowing team members to collaborate simultaneously. All development files will be completely online and provide native support for collaborators across various computing platforms. Creators will be able to manage permissions, versioning, and rollbacks, allowing for more efficiency across all aspects of the development timeline.

New Ways to Monetize
Roblox also extended the power of user-generated content to its development platform, allowing creators to build and monetize development assets and tools in a new Developer Marketplace. In addition to offering a new channel to monetize their work, the Developer Marketplace will also help strengthen the overall experiences on the platform by crowd-sourcing solutions to help make development even easier. Creators will be able to sell game design tools including plug-ins, vehicles, 3D models, terrain enhancements, and more.

Localization Support
To further support the platform’s growth internationally, Roblox announced improvements to its localization platform making it easier for creators to offer experiences in Roblox’s supported languages, including Brazilian Portuguese, English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, and Spanish.

Advanced Analytics Powered by Microsoft Azure PlayFab
Roblox outlined details of its earlier announced collaboration with Microsoft Azure PlayFab, making PlayFab’s LiveOps analytics service available for free to the company’s top 10,000 creators.

By delivering real-time analytics to their creators, including trends in player behavior, purchase history, and game telemetry, Roblox expects to empower those game creators to make their games even more successful and enjoyable for players. Some creators may choose to go even further with other LiveOps practices, such as updating their game more frequently, running live events, segmenting their players or targeting communications. This new service is driven by PlayFab’s data pipeline and can support hundreds of thousands of games events per second coming from Roblox.

Crystin Cox, Director of Live Operations at Xbox Game Studios Publishing, who also presented the benefits of the new service for game creators at this year’s RDC, commented, “LiveOps is driving growth, both in terms of player engagement and monetization, for the most popular games and platforms available today. LiveOps represents a new approach to game design combined with a better process driven by experimentation and we’re excited to offer Roblox developers a new way to think about their players.”
