Today, Hiro Capital is proud to announce that its co-founding Partner, Ian Livingstone has been awarded a Knighthood by HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
Sir Ian is best known as one of the founders of Games Workshop (Warhammer) and Eidos (Lara Croft Tomb Raider) and as the creator of the Fighting Fantasy series of adventure gamebooks.
Over the course of his legendary career, Sir Ian has made innumerable contributions to the art and industry of video and role-playing games.
Three of Ian’s recent investments – Tonic Games (Fall Guys), Playdemic (Golfclash), and Sumo Digital – were acquired in 2021 at unicorn valuations and Hiro Capital has made 20 early-stage games investments in the last 2 years.
“With 5 unicorn scale games start-ups under his questing belt, Hiro Capital is proud to celebrate Sir Ian’s knighthood. His bravery, chivalry, courtliness and hermetical talents make him one of the most powerful paladins in video games. We are proud to have Sir Ian co-leading the Hiro Capital guild of mages and sell-swords as we ride forward into the Metaverse of 2022,” said Luke Alvarez and Cherry Freeman, Hiro co-founders.
“Simply put, it is a huge honour for me and fantastic recognition for the UK games industry and the brilliant people who work in it. The industry has come a long way since I founded my first startup and I believe more than ever in Games and Gameplay as a global force for good.” – said Sir Ian Livingstone.
As a digital skills champion, Ian also recently founded the Livingstone Academy, which opened its doors in September 2021 – an all-through school for ages four to eighteen that aims to give its students the tools they need to succeed as young creators in a digital world.
Alienware have designed a new project to allow everyone in your house to game together easily and fluidly.
But rather than me explain it, I’m going to let them:
“It’s one of the most common and frustrating problems – having multiple gamers under one roof competing for access to their favorite titles and totally crushing Wi-Fi bandwidth.
Or is it???
We’re always thinking ahead to the future – near and far – and thinking about the ways we can provide the best gaming experiences out there. Which is why we’re incredibly stoked about potentially solving one of the biggest challenges in PC gaming and changing the game completely: how to simultaneously allow players in a household to easily access their full game library and play on any device, even if they want to change screens during gameplay. A tall order, but Alienware is hurtling towards a solution.
We call it Concept Nyx.
An R&D project from our consortium of wizards also known as our Experience Innovation Group (EIG), The Concept Nyx solution comes in the wake of other audacious Alienware initiatives that have broken boundaries and elevated the PC gaming experience: from creating our thinnest gaming laptops to date with the Alienware X Series to bold gaming ideas like Concept UFO. Now we’ve done it again, literally breaking the mold of the PC gaming experience with an eye toward the future.
Imagine you’re on your desktop in your bedroom exploring Night City in CyberPunk 2077. Your roommates are on their laptops and tablets in the living room, battling head-to-head in Rocket League. And your cousin is also over, casually building a new world in Minecraft on her cell phone. Now let’s say it’s time to prepare dinner so you head downstairs and pass the controller to one of your roommates – you can quickly switch to your CyberPunk 2077 experience on the 65-inch TV in the living room and let them takeover exactly where you left off, advancing your game while you cook.
That’s the future of gaming! And it’s starting to take shape today.
How would it be done, you ask? Concept Nyx spotlights the role edge computing could play – where high performance game processing could be done in the home and shared across the local network. Because the processing happens locally (versus needing to travel to and from distant servers), it could offer lower latency, greater bandwidth and more responsiveness – ultimately solving some of the performance shortfalls of current alternatives like cloud gaming. This means multiplayer latency could reach single-digit milliseconds to dramatically decrease any lag of modern-day cloud gaming systems. Pretty cool, huh?
It doesn’t stop there either. We have been looking at how to power four game streams simultaneously, smart switching among devices, and drawing from a central library of all your games regardless of where you purchase them. Gaming on Concept Nyx aims to be as effortless as accessing your favorite music, TV shows and movies. Imagine a simple app loaded on each device delivering instant access to all your games for a more seamless gaming experience across devices in the home. Imagine no more fighting with your family or roommates over game time (you can still fight over groceries and laundry). Wouldn’t it be nice to tear down the barricades so that everyone can game on their own terms?
Alienware loves a challenge. We were founded on a challenge, to create a new market for high-end gaming PCs back when none existed. We’re especially excited about this concept because of its uniqueness as an idea and its potential for the gaming industry at large – we could imagine this appealing to not only casual gamers, but the ok-I’ll-have-a-go gamers, next generation gamers – the whole family. Given our sci-fi bona fides, we’re thrilled to boldly go where no brand has gone before.
As we further develop Concept Nyx, we aim to use each step forward to benefit future products and enhance the user experience. We hope you’re as jazzed as we are to embark on this journey, and we look forward to keeping you in the loop.”
eBlitz are excited to announce that they have now gone multigaming!
This comes after users of the gaming/social app gave feedback of wanting more games brought to the platform. Initially it had only been Fortnite that the platform offered, but now, after app development, eBlitz offers close to 100 (and counting) of your favourite multiplayer game titles!
Arron Wu, the CEO of eBlitz, said: “We’re delighted to be releasing a multigame eBlitz platform for our users. Now, by offering more games to find teammates for, we believe we are giving users the best possible chance of having true gaming connections and experiences!”
This new update comes after an impressive few months of releases that have seen the eBlitz app change significantly by adding in a text chat and a team chat functionality. Now with the addition of multigaming, eBlitz has a platform open for all.
Head of Growth Luke Elden added: “We are massively excited to be bringing more games to eBlitz and the platform after our community feedback. This is a huge step forward for the app and there is still more to come!”
eBlitz is available for download on both Android and iOS on the Play Store and App Store respectively.
Earlier this year the British Esports Association selected the 2021 teams to represent Great Britain for this year’s Global Esports Games (GEG) 2021 in Singapore.
Teams from more than 80 countries competed last weekend at a medal event which didn’t include prize money. The 2021 games had tournaments in Street Fighter V, Dota 2 Open, Dota 2 Women and eFootball PES.
The inaugural games took place from December 17th-19th where Great Britain had teams and players competing for their chance to secure a medal. The teams were led by Vexed Gaming’s Chief Gaming Officer, Mark Weller, as team manager.
The Dota 2 Women’s team played on the main stage, securing a Silver medal to the hosting country Singapore.
Great Britain team manager Mark Weller commented “Closing out the first global esports games with a Silver medal and 2 close 4th place finishes (1-2 and 2-3) is a fantastic start for what could be a strong national programme, Our journey to Singapore was met with many struggles, but I feel we are building the foundations of something truly fantastic with your GB esports roster. I think we can walk away proud, showing that Great Britain is home to some exceptional talent and I look forward to building on these foundation’s we laid in 2021″.
For an overview of all events, please see below.
Dota 2 Open
With an early start the Dota 2 Open team competed in their semi-finals game against Singapore. Despite their best efforts, Great Britain fell short against the home nation 0-2, ending their journey in the Global Esports Games 2021 with a 4th place finish.
Captain of the Great Britain Dota 2 Open team commented: “Unfortunately we did not reach the expectations we had but I’m happy we are able to learn from this experience so we can come back stronger next year.”
Dota 2 Women
Firstly, Great Britain faced Mongolia in the semi-finals with their chance to secure a spot in the grand finals. The team secured the victory 2-0 where their next game would see them face against the hosting country’s team: Singapore.
Heading onto the main stage, Great Britain started off the first match in the best-of-three series with a victory, putting themselves 1-0 up against Singapore. After a long game filled with nail-biting moments, the hosting country leveled up the series 1-1, taking it to its full lengths.
The final match saw the game running over 70 minutes long, where Singapore took the edge resulting in Great Britain securing a Silver medal finish.
Great Britain player Bellemiku commented: “From where we started in the beginning, I am so proud of how far we have come. We prepared for the matches to the best of our ability and our series vs Mongolia and Singapore showed that. We went into the finals with low expectations and winning that first match felt amazing, it’s a shame we couldn’t close out the series but the final 80 minute match just displays how close it really was. I’m very excited to see more opportunities like this in the future!”
eFootball 2022 PES
On December 17th the eFootball 2022 PES qualifiers took place, where MrMyClub1 was representing team Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The day started off strong with a victory against Hungary.
Moving into the next two sets of games against Montenegro and Libya, despite a valiant attempt from MrMyClub1, he wasn’t able to progress further in the tournament losing to both countries.
He commented: “Overall it’s been an incredible experience, very very competitive as I had imagined and just unlucky not to get through in the end as it was very close.”
Street Fighter V
The Street Fighter V action started off with a group stage where player Kim-Phillipe finished off with a clean sheet 4-0, progressing to the bracket stages of the tournament.
Countries within the group were: Paraguay, Singapore, Jamaica and Mongolia.
The following day The4Philzz took to the main stage against Brazil. Starting off 0-1 down, he later tied up the series with the character Falke. With the momentum of taking game two, he managed to close out the series 3-1 and secured his place in the semi-finals against Chinese Taipei.
Whilst the games were close, he unfortunately fell 1-3 in the semi-finals and is set to participate in a third-place match-up against Pakistan.
Pakistan took the series 3-1 in a heavily contested bout for the bronze medal, leaving Great Britain with a 4th place finish in the Street Fighter V tournament at the Global Esports Games 2021.
He commented: “My time at the Global Esports Games 2021 in Singapore was great! Started my group stages with a flawless 4-0 record. I then moved on to the top 8 qualifiers the next day. Many hard battles were fought and my journey ended in 4th place.”
In the coming weeks you can watch back Great Britain’s journey behind the scenes in Singapore, with videos to be uploaded to the British Esports Association’s YouTube channel.

Eidos-Montréal,Adidas, and Marvel have unveiled a first-look at the upcoming Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy footwear collaboration.
Set to launch in 2022, the collection will feature six unique shoes inspired by the Guardians’ distinct looks and personalities, as explained by James Liu, Senior Designer, Footwear, Exclusives – adidas:
Star-Lord – Forum Hi 84 and Forum Mid
“Star-Lord has an old-school charm and is an expert in galactic combat and battle techniques; similarly, the Forum mid has an undeniable retro appeal and is a proven contender in its own area of expertise.”
Gamora – ZX 2K Boost 2.0
“Gamora is known across the universe as being a warrior with unmatched strength, speed and skill – and also for her lineage to the MCU game-changer Thanos. The ZX 2K Boost, the most recent silhouette to bear the iconic ZX moniker, is sleek and sharp like Gamora’s blades and takes color and material references from her armor and appearance.”
Drax – Ozelia
“Drax is fierce and headstrong, with superhuman strength and a formidable human-mutate physique. The Ozelia, is built like a classic sneaker but features amplified characteristics like a maximal midsole and molded panels and lines that draw similar visuals to Drax’s brutish form.”
Groot – NMD R1
“To capture the essence of the plant-life superbeing that is Groot, we started with the rugged trail version of the modern classic NMD R1. Unique to the style is a lugged outsole which helps to naturally grip the floor, and the mud-guard that runs along the bottom of the shoe helps protect the foot. Adding to this, we used a 2-tone knit in shades of brown as a nod to Groot’s roots for the upper, and an embroidered detail featuring ‘I AM GROOT’ in an alien language featured in the game.”
Rocket – ZX 1K Boost
“Rocket Racoon is a weapons specialist, elite marksman, and master tactician, who takes on amplified abilities from its racoon counterparts. We started with the ZX 1K Boost silhouette as a base – it’s a modern interpretation of a familiar style, using the latest technology for optimal performance. We added technical features like speed lacing, and high-vis reflective elements inspired by Rocket Racoon’s weaponry.”
“A key starting point for the design of each sneaker was the unique visual cues from each of the characters – whether it’s the stitching details on Star-Lord’s leather jacket, Groot’s earthy color palette, or Drax’s unmistakable tattoos,” added Liu. “From there, we wanted to inlay various design discovery elements that helped further bring the story of each character to life. Bringing it all together across the collection are unique signifiers for this original take on Guardians of the Galaxy as a Super Hero team – with matching sockliners, hang tags, labels, and packaging.”
Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy is available now on PlayStation®5 console, PlayStation®4 console, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One consoles, PC, and streaming via GeForce NOW. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: Cloud Version for Nintendo Switch™ is also available now in select regions.

During the ID@Xbox Twitch Showcase recently, (part of the Twitch Winter Gathering), tinyBuild debuted a tantalisingly tense new trailer for Hello Neighbor 2 along with the announcement of a pre-order Beta launch date.
Check out the trailer below to see just how much trouble you’ll be able to get into on April 7th, 2022.
In Hello Neighbor 2, players step into the role of Quentin, an inquisitive local reporter looking into a series of mysterious disappearances in the seemingly sleepy town of Raven Brooks.
Players of previous games in the series might be quick to blame the reclusive and enigmatic engineer Mr Peterson, but it seems that everyone here has something to hide, and are willing to go to great lengths to keep their secrets buried.
The town of Raven Brooks is a living, breathing open-world space that will evolve over time. Every one of its colourful townsfolk is driven by a powerful shared neural network AI, capable of learning from their encounters not just with you, but all players worldwide.
With the townsfolk getting wise to your tricks, be prepared to adapt and improvise. It’s going to take more than just journalistic instincts to crack this case. Stealth, evasion and no shortage of puzzling lays ahead. Just try not to end up on the growing list of missing persons yourself.
In the Hello Neighbor 2 Beta, players will have access to a good part of Raven Brooks, packed with equal measures of mystery and menace.
Get ready to meet the locals, discover their daily routines, and then formulate a plan to find out what they’re keeping behind locked doors.
Mystery, horror, stealth and action are always just next-door in this neighborhood.
