Skybox Labs is excited to continue this partnership with 343 Industries to aid in the development of Halo Infinite, working on features across the game including AI, gameplay, networking, and cutting-edge graphics features.

Train2Game News Eleven new companies join the UK Games Fund community

The fourth round of companies to be awarded grants from the UK Games Fund has been announced today.

Eleven projects including PC, console and VR games developed by companies based across the UK have been selected and will now receive grants to develop their prototypes and undertake to support fellow developers with knowledge-sharing.

The fourth round of funded projects is the most demographically diverse group of companies since the UK Games Fund launched in 2015; 40% of project development teams are female-led and for the first time no London-based companies have made the final selection.

Competition for this round of funding was particularly tough as applicants seeking funding from the UK Games Fund were encouraged to self-select which route was most appropriate for them with the introduction of the Pitch Development Programme. Companies with past experience of shipping a game, a development team in place and ready to mobilise, a business plan and strategy for sustainability in place and with an already well-defined USP were encouraged to apply via the direct application route to Round 4.

Margot James, Minister of State for Digital and Creative Industries said:

“It’s marvellous to see grants awarded to companies that reflect such strength and diversity in the video games sector across the UK.

“The UK Games Fund has a proven track record of supporting innovative early stage games development, and I look forward to seeing these teams realise their creative potential.”

To date, the UK Games Fund has supported over 90 projects, and has a growing community with the increasingly popular Tranzfuser competition currently underway with 18 graduate development teams participating.

Paul Durrant, Managing Director, UK Games Talent and Finance CIC said:
“Our aim is to grow the UK’s early-stage games development ecosystem using a community-led approach and these new grant recipients have all agreed to give back significant time to support other companies through various peer-to-peer activities as part of the Creative Industries Sector Deal. Sharing knowledge and experience in this way adds significant value to the investment.”

Train2Game News GamerToken gains first eSports partner

Tempo Storm, one of North America’s most popular esports teams, is joining GamerToken as their first esports partner.

After recently joining as an advisor, CEO and founder of Tempo Storm, Andrey “reynad” Yanyuk, has also announced plans to integrate their upcoming trading card game, “The Bazaar”, into the GamerToken ecosystem.

Yanyuk is confident that blockchain technologies, such as GamerToken, will have a strong impact on the entire esports scene.

“With GamerToken, the esports genre is taking the next step towards other professional leagues, in which collecting or trading memorabilia items like basketball jerseys with fellow fans is already commonplace”, says Yanyuk.

Tempo Storm streamers and pro players will be promoting GamerToken Marketplace supported games on their live streams, as well as upcoming exclusive, non-fungible skins created in honor of their professional players.

Tempo Storm originally started as a Hearthstone team founded by successful Twitch streamer Yanyuk out of his own pocket and now stands among the most decorated esports franchises. Having expanded with additional teams in leading titles like Fortnite, HotS, CS:GO, PUBG, H1Z1, World of Warcraft, and the fighting game community, the globally-reaching brand features some of the world’s best competitors and broadcast personalities.

With all its various championship titles, Tempo Storm operates as much more than just an esports team – Tempo Storm is one of the largest esports media companies in the world. Its Hollywood studio produces innovative, cutting-edge content including events, esports tournaments, as well as a variety of gaming news, tools and videos, for one of the highest-trafficked websites in the space, TempoStorm.com. Tempo Storm also continues to deliver best-in-class live streams with its proprietary mobile production abilities.

The Bazaar is a deckbuilding game set in an intergalactic marketplace in which several classes can be played using all available published cards and built on a truly free-to-play model. It will feature unique gameplay, with each round starting from scratch, where players can buy different cards during the match that make them more powerful, kill monsters that drop rewards, and eventually use the strongest deck to defeat opponents.

Unique hero skins and game board items are planned to be issued as non-fungible tokens in limited quantities, and can be bought, designed, and traded by players on the GamerToken Marketplace – entirely independent from the in-game shop. These rare items can then be transferred into the game and used by players.

The Ethereum-based GamerToken Marketplace Demo is live now with its first blockchain-integrated game, a version of popular anime MMO, Fiesta Online from leading gaming publisher the gamigo group.

In partnership with Token Foundry, GamerToken is gearing up for its public crowdsale later this year. Further information about the GamerToken project can be found on the GamerToken Medium blog as well as their website, Twitter, and Telegram group.
